The key is "new experience", like video in DSLR is a new experience......so what is this new experience? A "new buying experience"?:bsmilie:

There is a website address on that page TS was speaking of..... on page-21 of Jan 2009 issue of 'Practical Photography'.

If this were available in Singapore, sign me up. I'd like to be able to rent say, a 500mm f/4L for an overseas safari shoot instead of having to slap down several grand for the damn thing.

They have gained and is highly successful with the "budget" market ie 5DMk2.

They are losing market in the hi-end professional market for quite a while (look at the recent Olympics).
The Nikon D3 is and upcoming D3X is brilliant, and leading the class. The Sony has already hit 24MP. The 1DM3 is infamous and paled in comparision. Even the 1Ds3 seem "outdated" on paper specs compared to Sony and Nikon.
They are slipping ground in their flagship camera market share with the 1D series so badly for a while now, we can forget about a even lower budget FF anyttime soon, not with the budget 5d2 selling like mad so recently.
They cannot lose the hi-end market, they lose pros who spend big money in their lens and systems (read 400mm, 500mm, 600mm etc).
They have techno for sensors up to 50MP. They really want to establish themselves as the market leader with the new flagship, again.

Camera evolution update (upgrade path to DIGIC IV generation) -
xx series ie 50D - check
Semi-pro series ie 5D2 - check
500D - pending
1d4/ 1Ds4 - pending

So can we guess what the new Canon camera will be? No prize for right answer. To me its either the 1D4 or the 1Ds4 coming out, the only question is which one first.

You best be trolling.

1Ds3 has been outdate because it is what? 2 years? Take alook at this tester review.

A yet to release camera barely even out perform a 2 year old one. How can D3X be leading class when it is not out, and how does 1Ds3 pale? LOL

Canon will definately release a 1D/s replacement, but imho, they are not rushing it when there isnt any real competition yet.

And guess what, no one uses FF for sports and sports market does not equates to the whole high end market. There are more people using D3 is because it offers 1.5 crop at 11 fps, as compare to 1.3 crop at 10 fps.

A canon spore customer service man revealed to me 2 weeks ago that Canon will be launching a body that is between 5DII and 1DsIII and hence it will be priced between the two, likely over $5000. let's wait and see.

Won't that be the 1D price range? Hmm.

Between the two will be the 1D mark IV wouldn't it?

Just a nitpick, but the D3 is a full frame body :)

The customer service man was probably smoking pot when he told you the info. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Did anyone say D3 is a crop body? To enable 11 fps that beats 1D3, you need to put it into DX mode.

another customer service man at canon also told me that the new model can also use NIKON lenses WITH AF.. *GASP*

DX mode means 6mpx....that is way lower resolution then 1D3.....So is that consider a win?
