If it's suicidal, there is nothing SMRT can do to stop these people as they jump at the very last minute when the train is approaching.

No use putting whatever railings also. Just like how to stop people from jumping off tall buildings? No way to stop right?

If they can justify that its suicidal, then can save the money and trouble to go and build railings. I think it does not help. They are just throwing in money to show that they are doing something. And maybe a few months down the road, MRT fares will increase. :thumbsd:

These old people who commit suicide are making a statement when they choosed the MRT. Who would like to be banged by a train? But to these desperate old folks whom our dear government do not care much for as "nobody owes anyone a living", what choice do they have?

Our society have degenerated into this high cost and no care government, what choice do the old folks have if they are destitute? And they are choosing the MRT to make a statement.

Perhaps all these bad omens year round comes together with the enthronement of the "Dragon King"!

wow what a statement! looks like some moderator is on the way :bsmilie: so what do you suggest they do? give the desperate old folks $10k a month & tell them 'don't jump hor!' :bsmilie:

Regardless. I've said before, the crux of the matter is that people are jumping. It's ok to jump off a building because it doesn't inconvenience anyone?? The questions should be why this is happening and how can we help these people in need.

The reactions are quite typical. Fine the family. Build glass barriers. But these don't solve the real problem, just the symptoms.

But people jumping off tall building does not cost much disruption to other people. Jumping on MRT tracks cost the SMRT time and money and generates alot of frustration among passengers. Imagine this to happen during rush hour.
:nono:

Wat's the people in-charge of the MRT is doing? Accident 3 times in less than 2 mths??? The department head of MRT must be sack!!! :nono: :nono: :nono:

Is it possible that someone is going around and pushing people? New form of terrorist attack? Perhaps thats why the incidents are all located at Bishan/Bukit Batok...

Just speculation btw

hmm...no official news yet??...kindof slow huh?...

Aiya, the govt controlled the press not to leak any info one la...sign...everywhere in the world, the press is controlled by their govt.!

Nothing much that we can do...just find it "interesting" that for so many years, nothing happened (except for a case - can't remember when but also at Bishan MRT) but in the past 2 months - 4 cases already.

That was back in 1995, i was still in sec 4, one day after school, around 7-8pm, i was on my way home at bishan. When the train about the leave the tunnel (from braddel), the train jam brake and stop there for more than 15 minutes. After that the train moved very very slowly to the platform, I was in the train and didn't know what had happened at all, but when i left the station i saw a few policeman...then at night during the news on TV, they reported that a woman actually climbed down to the track and walk towards the tunnel  then the train knocked her down near the exit of the tunnel

the report was published in great detail last time, unlike the recent accident

Actually could also be coz of the 'culture' in the past to commit suicide at the train tracks last time. Was told this by my mum. Last time ppl like to go train tracks. Now with the MRT conveniently located nearby, no need to go so far liaoz. Some more it's more frequent. I think it's probably an old 'habit' practised in the modern-day context. Not that it's good.

Some who jumped from HDB blocks never even got mentioned on newspaper, few will know. Those who used MRT as a sucide tool will cause a wider media coverage, millions will know about it.

Maybe these sucidal person do not have the courage to jump off tall building, jumping onto the track is easier. Less anticipation, similiar impact.
