hmm.. post some of your sexy pics up? I may have some interested clients for you. But I do charge commission hor :bsmilie:

Could that be why the 21MP 1DsMk3 have strangely more noise than 12MP 5D?

Of course!

But the 21MP 1Ds3 has a 1-1.5 stop advantage over the 24MP A900. And if Canon improve the 21MP sensor, it might have a 2 stop advantage. Then they will reign in the 20+ MP category. But who needs 20+ MP with 20MB RAW files?? If I were Canon, I would improve the 12.8MP 5D sensor and make it quieter than the D3/D700. Then Canon can fight all categories with lowest noise in the business.

OT a bit. Actually noise levels as pixels increase is not as bad as people make it out to be. It of course gets worse but most of the increase is because we are viewing at 100%. When viewed at a fixed size say a 17 inch screen, the increase in noise is less evident.

e.g.
1.3 MP 100% view on a 1280x1024 monitor is 100% magnification.
12 MP 100% view on a 1280x1024 monitor is about 300% magnification.

I don't quite understand your comparison. I think the magnification you are refering to only applies to the size of the picture. If the monitor has a 100% pixel to pixel match (ie. 1 pixel in the picture is displayed using 1 pixel on the monitor), 1 pixel of noise will still show up as 1 pixel of red/green pixel on the screen at 100% regardless of the size of the actual picture.

The noise only become less evident when you shrink the say 12MP picture to fit the 17" screen completely. Is that what you are trying to say?

Decided to have some fun during lunch time and took the image from the us "tease" site to do some ps. Interestingly, increasing the highlights show some additional details ...

canon6.jpg

The white EOS marking (which show only on the 1-series body which is higher as compare to the xxxD bodies) was revealed, even though the form factor looks a bit like the 5D (as someone has suggested) with a setting dial (base on the way it had been PS off). It also looks like a battery grip could be incorporated guessing from the way is has been PS.

So is it some kind of 1 series and 5D hybrid or something? Is hard to imagine that knowing that Canon will always "protect" their 1 series product line kekeke... Whatever it is ... it looks like it ain't gonna be cheap :bsmilie:

cheers!

My point is that the difference is less noticable when you compare the whole picture side by side at the same PICTURE size. So if you view a 1MP to just fill the whole monitor, it is already at 100%, if you view a 12MP one, it is at 30%.

What I am saying is that we get carried away with 100% viewing pixel peeping when in practice, when you take a photo, you are interested in how the picture looks overall. If you take a picture of a person's head, how often do you just print the nose?

I had put a translated version in the previous page. :)

Hopefully, it is a useful function.

I have no doubt that some would find it useful.... I would be one of those :sweatsm: ..... now the biggest issue would be COST of the camera.

But 24MP....... seems a real OVERKILL..... how about the High ISO ????

If it has a video mode, the sensor maybe capable to achieve good high ISO.

You also member of that forum? Yah, already record the date in my calendar. :bsmilie:

And me too although my participation is more a reader - no time to be in too many

24mp is really overkill. I would have to upgrade my PC, HDD, EXT HDD, buy more CF card just to shoot RAW. Maybe there will a 12 MB sRAW for people who don't need the full res file.

Currently upgrading my pc....by the time the camera come out, the pc is capable of handling it. :bsmilie:

I like their Nude & Glamour Section, very inspiral. ;)

The MP war is getting ridiculous.
Even with 2MP, you can't view the whole picture at 100% on a standard 1280x1024 19 inch monitor. Now we are pushing 20+MP, file size 10x as big.
Some say it is for cropping - yeah, unless you have the very best lenses, you also crop away lens resolution.

No doubt a minority will need the resolution. But 99% of us don't need 24MP. Good for showing off for the puffy headed.

yah roh ...... must get more CF memory and RAM haiz ....
