Gear chaser will never end,End of the day,the manufacturer of the system are the true winner and happy share holder from the handsome profit from the affordable gear chaser willing to burn cash for the latest gear system their offer. ............:)

Good to see you here, dHitman. :bsmilie:

Photokina come quick quick..... so tried of all this 'Wind Sound'....
You know the drill. It's a head-biting-the-tail scenario. Once Photokina's done and over with, expect new rumors to spread and leaks leaking out.

Vicious cycle. :sweatsm:

:Later,

actually may not need to wait that long. i've been on web for online camera shops here in Australia and 5D has magically disappeared today! i emailed them yesterday re 50D release dates and it was there (5D) and now gone!!!!

If I remember correctly, just a couple of days ago, people were doubting 50D leaks from some website called dog-cr.jp... and guess what?... everything turned out correct... shall we wait and see again?.... :bsmilie:

Imagine REALLY CLEAN ISO 12,800 images from 12 MP sRAW files... very attractive... a LOT more so than the unusable ISO 12800 images from D3/D700... :bsmilie:

Let the BBB virus start...

Let me say that I am a Canon user...wouldn't change camp...
but I would like to say that I have seen pictures taken by Nikon D3 at ISO 25600 in the Night Safari and It is damn good and very much usable.:)

Seems that Sony is announcing their 20+ MP Sony A900 FF camera on 10-Sep-2008.

Rumors have it that Canon will be releasing their 5D upgrade a day before that. OF course, the accidental Popular Photo leak about the G10 (28-140 mm IS), SX IS (29-560 mm IS, articulating LCD) etc. will also be made official by then.

I'm not sure if Canon would have 2 release dates for a season... this "second" announcement is deja vu since last year.

Im not sure if Sony would pose a serious threat to Canon and Nikon's market share, as Sony dSLR and their lens are not mature enough with their technologies to compete seriously.

I agree Sony (Minolta) would not pose a serious threat to Canon but it will affect the 5D x market. But once Sony comes up with it, Nikon (who uses Sony sensors) will follow suit and that is where Canon may be hit, like they are now with the D3, D300 and D700.

Anyway now that the 50D is out at 15MP, with the same pixel density, they can make a FF sensor at around 38MP, so we might just see the following lineup by the end of the year, or with the 450D pixel density 30MP

1000D $750 10MP
450D $950 12MP
50D $1,600 15MP
5D2 $4,000 21MP FF
1D4 $6,000 18MP 1.3x crop
1Ds4 $xx,000 30-40MP FF

As Nikon and Sony has 12 and 20+ MP cams, the only way Canon will up the ante is to go 30MP!! We all know that 30MP (about 7000 pixels wide) is really superfluos but Canon have to be ahead so .....

it's the cycle of Moore's law :bsmilie:

Why bother abt the launch date. Look forward to the date when the D camera actually hits the shop. I suspect it's going to be like next year lah.

And then the usual crap, oh it's in the dock waiting for custom clearence.

Just like the same story as how the 1Dm3 got. launch in March 08 and available in July 08 (somewhere ard that dateline plus minus. extra 3 months of wating again)

Sianz.

Buy disposable camera sua!

The way some people react when a new model is announced, you'd think that the DSLR is a disposable camera ;)

Perhaps they have a non disclosure agreement. It must be fun for them to sit back and watch forum-ers discuss what they speculate will be in the upcoming gear :D

I work in a completely different line (nothing to do cameras, I am a hobbyist photog who shoots to relax), but there are forums which are related to my line of business.

You would be surprised at how many people at the office read our related forums and laugh their @ss off at the speculation. It's almost a spectator sport ;)

And our rules of engagement are extremely strict: absolutely NOBODY who knows the truth is permitted to even register, much less post.

I am quite sure the camera folk are reading the forums and laughing right now. :)

15.1mp for 50D and supposedly 21mp for 5D mkii!
Wow, Canon is making its leap across the megapixel war and race for high quality ISO performance.

Will really have to wait and see how its technological leap can proove the juice in the pictures!
DPReview, we are waiting!

i'm suspecting he's one of the canon staff at Canon Singapore.
he claims his colleagues tested 50d and told a forum member that 50d have been lying around in the marketing offices for ages.

hahaa. let's visit canon singapore and ask them show ask them to show us the 5d II.;p

one of the CS senior member had been telling us he had pre-ordered the 5DMkII liaos...:)

The FF sensor on the 5D MkII will be about 2.6 times the area of the 1.6 sensor on the 50D. This means that with the same sensor technology as the 50D the 5D MkII could have almost 40Mp. Personally I'd prefer just 20Mp bigger pixels with less noise.

Apart from the problems of processing large images, (an HDR panorama with bracketed shots could need 50 or more .tif images processed), there is the problem of diffraction. As pixels get smaller the effect of Airey's Disks comes into effect with small apertures. Check out this link for a simple tutorial on the effects of Airey's Disks. http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/diffraction-photography.htm
