Android users unite!

You guys are really hardcore! I have totally no idea what you guys are talking about with this Gingerbread, MIUI ROM etc ,..... :dunno::sweat::bsmilie:

Just download ROM manager from market, and from there, you can download latest stable CM ROM for Nexus One.

I am using MIUI ROM for my Nexus One. Looks pretty. It seems like a hybrid Android + iOS.

The installation can be tricky though.

I have seen a theme for Samsung Galaxy S to make it looks like WP7. But, I am not too fancy about WP7 UI though, so have not try it.

Android is a very flexible system to play with... :D

OK, go to XDA developer forum => http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php

Look at the section regarding your device, read its FAQ/General/Sticky 1st. However, basically the steps are just:

1) Root
2) Apply custom ROM.

Once you are familiar, you can start, make your own ROM or even compile your own kernel. ;)

Yes, though, maybe you want to try this:

I am using it now on my Nexus One. Pretty good. Though, as usual create a nandroid backup before apply the new ROM.

HONEYCOMB!

Official demo for HoneyComb on Tablets

There are some early adopter xda forumers who got Honeycomb ROM to run on their HTC handsets, but without full functionality and some crashes here and there..

Here is a taste of how Honeycomb should run in upcoming smartphones

If you guys are don't doing some technical stuff, the Barnes and Nobles Nook Color is a very capable Android tablet for a damn cheap price. There is even an offer going on Ebay (still direct from B&N though) where you can get one for US$199! Today is the last day I believe.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...29095&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2071wt_1139

Use any of the forwarding companies (Vpost, ComGateWay, Borderlinx etc etc) to ship it over as B&N doesn't send to Singapore.

Follow instructions here to get it rooted and running 2.1
Follow instructions here to get it to 2.2 and get Flash.

Still confused? Watch the video.

If you're adventurous enough, there is also a rom that is running the preview version of Honeycomb!

Looks like Apple is suing Android phone & tablet manufacturers one at a time... HTC, Motorola, Samsung... :thumbsd:

We suppose Apple must have cleared all the million and one patents and whole intellectual property stuffs from research by other companies before arriving at their first iPhone.

Ford or whichever old automobile company should start sueing all the other car makers for copying the 4 wheel concept with steering ..

Good times, too much cash for the lawyers

Apple lawyers must be one of the highest paid lawyers, I'm guessing LG is next on their radar ...

Well, in all fairness... One reason why I don't like samsung phones is because to me they look too much like an iPhone. :P

Yeah...and it's not only the exterior of it, their Touchwiz 3 interface looks too much like an iPhone knockoff

Exactly. So I can't exactly say Apple doesn't have a point here...

But I don't think things like "rectangular black shape with rounded edges" is a patent that will stand up in courts. If that's the case, then the iPhone itself is a knock-off of previous phones. :P

Well, I do agree that Samsung made their SGS series looks too similar to iPhone. That is in fact one thing that I dislike about my SGS. Samsung has great hardware and they really don't need to copy the iPhone.

But if Apple won the lawsuits over the Android phone manufacturers, these phones will be banned from importing to US and the Americans will be deprived of future Android phones. That will be something very interesting to see...

oh yea. Arc user here. HAHA.
