Amos Yee vs Steven Lim

eriously?

he has no sense of responsibility nor the maturity to handle himself.

people say that he is intellectually mature <-- sorry. he is immature even though he has the brains.

you got to give it to him because he got the guts to say his mind

but he has no EQ, not the brains to know tat this is not d time to say stuff like that.

there are many kids out there as smart as he is, but they are more responsible and sensible, unlike him. you may say that they have no guts, but i would say that they know what is the right thing to do.

I pity his parents... who have to bail him out and most likely pay his fine and worry if he is jailed... but for Amos, I have no pity... time for him to learn adult responsibility...

A year in jail plus 6 strokes of cane will be good for his soul. :)

You cannot fix stupid. Period.

I do not think that he is stupid.

My observations from the videos suggest this boy may be autistic (albeit high performance autism: one with unusal skills).
Autistic kids lacks social skills, repetive behaviour, social development including lack of eye contact.

His lack of social skills is demostrated by releasing the video at the time other people are mourning the passing of a former prime minister. He lacks empathy.

His repetitive behaviour of walking and eating his banana another indicator.

His lack of social development is clearly seen when he was slapped. A normal person would have looked at the assialant, but he just nurse his pain and walks away without making eye contact. All three symptoms taken together shows sign of autism.

This boy needs help not condemnation.

His lack of social development is clearly seen when he was slapped. A normal person would have looked at the assialant, but he just nurse his pain and walks away without making eye contact.

That might be the case if it happened in a 'normal' scenario, like any regular person walking home. Some of us might even retaliate and give chase to the aggressor.

Given that it looked like there were at least 10-20 photographers/press people tracking him, I think it's a little hard to predict how any 'normal' person would have reacted in that situation. It's just as possible that any 'normal' person would have felt too self-conscious in front of all those cameras/reports to respond the way we really wanted to? It's not hard to imagine that a 'normal' person would have brushed it off to appear calm and cool, if you don't want people to think you're weak.

I don't disagree that the kid needs help :) Just suggesting that it probably is a bit of a stretch to infer that someone has a lack of social development, simply from how they responded in an incident that occurred in front of what appeared to be a sea of cameras/observers.

Yes he need help. That's why Singapore Prison is willing to take him in for free to help him to be a better and responsible person :)

As dumb(and misguided as he appears to be, going after a teenager in court speaks breadth and depth of characters. If I were sitting on the fence, I sure know which side to fall on now.

...........bully kechil? :p

Yeah, and the besar seemed to have forgotten how they got so besar.......

....thought that they had the masses under total control after 7 days of mental reconditioning. How is it this chap is impervious to it all?.....

oh oh i know i know......

Typical response...... "this is an isolated case".....

The example of a frog in slow boiling pot analogy comes to mind. It works BOTH WAYS.. while "they' put us in a pot to stew, they themselves are in a pot of their own making thus they too over time become clouded with disillusion. It's that ivory tower mentality heheh..

Where can we get the best frog leg soup in Singapore?

The sentence was out yesterday. I am not surprised that he was not given a jail term.

Look at the no. of photographers surrounding him when he walked out of the court; really like paparazzi with all the flashes. He is now like a star/celebrity.

Wha??? He received no jail time for crapping all over the folks who put him here and allowed him to live in the great country of Singapore??? Not even reformatory/juvenile services?

What was the sentence anyway? I will go look at Asia one news now...

You think we are North Koreans ?? :bsmilie:

But must have disappointed alot of people hoping to use him as an example to do some fingers pointing....

Anyway....little Amos problem is not over yet... as his sentencing is on 2nd June... most likely Court mandate visit to a psychologist...
