Why not just let nature take its course? If you win, you win.

IMO, losing makes you realize where your mistakes lies. Then learn from it.

Lol.... I've always think of competitions that needs votes as a 'you win cause you could gather the most votes from different sources' kind of thing..

Anyway, the open voting thing is just for a category, there's another category where the judges will decide who wins.

Actually nothing wrong about publicising your entering the competition and asking for votes.

If people look at your work and think it's not worthy, they won't vote. If your work is good, or they're your buddies, chances are they will vote for you.

It's not like you're buying votes.

Anyway, I've seen people ask nicely in several forums and generally, most people are kind enough to help (if the work is good) and not pass snide remarks about the asking, or if the work is bad.

The response was good.
