[ All Rumors ] - Rumors for ALL MFT products (cameras, lenses and accessories)

Actually it looks exactly the same as the video photo
The only difference is the lens on the mount. And this camera sure look better with larger lens, than pancakes.

And why are they including X-sync port when it can trigger flash wirelessly? I still think this hybrid design doesnt really go down well with the overall Olympus OM heritage.

Actually this is in line with the OM heritage. This is not new. Olympus OM3 and OM4 have this. My Olympus OM2Spot/Program also has this. It is not X-synch port. It may be a multi pin (maybe 5 pin) TTL flash auto cord socket.

Since the OM-D E-M1 plastic cap has a lightning bolt symbol, then it is unlikely to be a socket connection for wireless remote control or adaptation of accessories like GPS, WIFI, etc....

Lightning bolt is universal symbol for flash... no ?
I am still not convinced about the ergonomics of the camera... have to hold it and feel it to know. But base on visual design, i prefer the E-M5 and E-P5 's design direction better.

Yes. That is why it is socket for Olympus multi-pin socket for TTL corded flash; but it is not for X-sync flash plug.

nice!
weird but it feels really.... 'manly', like ready for all sorts of battles haha

Wow , around SGD$2800+ for the EM1 + 12-40 and SGD1153 for the 12-40 if I do a direct conversion from Yen.

If this is true , then factor in GST and retailer earnings , the EM-1 is going to be a body I can't afford :_(

Looking at EM-1 price, I am serious thinking of entry level FF. LOL

Hmmm, I believe a 6D with 24-40 f4 L (your entry level FF with the "equivalent" lens - quotes intended) would already set you back around S$4K... so what are you talking about?

6D with a 24-105 is 3.3k, the EM1 + lens price is indeed a little steep.

I am not acquainted with the Oly E bodies prices as I've generally hung around the MFT series. Are the prices for the EM-1 in line with for example the E5? If so, then prob it might be an explanation for the prices set.

hmm, well, the 12-40/2.8 is a reasonable price to me being cheaper than the 12-35/2.8 but mind that the 12-40 has no in-lens stabilization while the Panny does.
Its the price of the EM-1 body that kinda stumped me at around SGD1900 (before GST and such) for body alone

ya... v true.... 2k can get you a grey set 6D body. the body only price is quite steep.

To be fair, I believe it is branded as a professional body, so I'm not surprised at the pricing

When the E-1 came out, I believe it cost more though, I think I ever discussed with Wonglp about the 12-40, if the quality is good, and it's reasonably priced, I would get one in the future, now it's like 1k plus, it might have a place in my bag in the future. But of course, I'm not in a rush to get it since it's not a camera I'll be working with

Pricing is one though, would you want to carry the weight? Even looking at the entry level FF, the lenses and the camera is still much heavier than the E-M1 and the it's equivalent lenses

How can compare Grey 6D with RRP E-M1? Personally, looking at the prices for the PENs, it is indeed steep, but considering it's meant to replace the E-X series (somewhat), I'm not surprised at the pricing. If I still had my old lenses (other than my 14-54) and still shoot with the E-system, I wouldn't mind investing in this if it's really all that it's made to be.

not sure what em-1 can do to justify the price. Let's wait for the real price and review. It is still under rumors..

If the image output is the same as ep-5 or epl5 or em-5...seriously must consider.

True, but if it is design and cost being high to use the big 4/3 lens for fast AF, then it will be still heavy because 4/3 lens are still a DSLR lens...mmm
