[ All Rumors ] - Rumors for ALL MFT products (cameras, lenses and accessories)

I'm fairly pleased with the size of my Panasonic GH3, but I won't use the 35-100mm f/2.0 on it, although I use the 14-35mm f/2.0 and 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 frequently. Of course, compared to the E-5, the GH3 seems small.

External size:

Width x Height x Depth

E-M1 130.4x93.5x63.1
GH3 132.9x93.4x82.0
E-1 141x104x81
E-5 142.5x116.5x74.5

Weight:

E-M1 443g
GH3 470g
E-1 660g
E-5 892g

The E-M1 is close to the GH3, except at the grip.

not to forget space is needed to house an improved 5-axis IS system; the other camps do not have this IS.

HWZ says no lens hood? Was reading the rumors site that PRO series will come with one. Wonder why Oly decided to exclude lens hood for their lenses.
How old are those reviews? Oly lenses released in recent times always come without.

no hood for the 12-40 mm :)

but so far , how many of us are interested in the EM-1?

its no more a rumor haha

'A Mirrorless camera beyond a DSLR' really a statement I like in its advertisement!

It was a rumor before the lenses are officially announced. It was rumored to have lens hood. But seems like its official now. Gotta pay for the lens hood.
Will have to wait for the review of EM-1. From the preview sites, it seems like a very welcome evolution from EM-5.

Now, the last thing to talk about is price. Olympus will be selling the body alone at S$1,948, and together with the new 12-40mm f/2.8 M.Zuiko Pro lens at S$2,948. The Olympus E-M5 at launch cost S$1,488 for the body alone. The new camera's price sounds steep, but the E-M1 is clearly a pro-body camera, and the fast zoom lens costs S$1,388 by itself, so you're getting a S$388 discount when you buy it in the kit. Unfortunately, Olympus still stubbornly refuses to package the lens hood together with the lens like any other lens manufacturer, and forces you to buy it separately at S$78.

Barely a surprise. Don't pay attention to every rumor. ;)

According to Olympus America, the Lens Hood is included:

Box Contents Lens Cap(LC-62D), Lens Rear Cap(LR-2), Lens Hood(LH-66), Lens Case(LSC-0918)
Instruction Manual, Olympus Worldwide Warranty Card

Yes, the E-M1 is the only one with the 5 axis IBIS but I'm amazed how I've been photographing sports all these years and only recently got the E-5 with the 2 axis IBIS and didn't miss it. The only reason I can see where I'd need the IBIS is to counteract the too light micro Four-Thirds lenses. The Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 is way too light on the GH3.

Malaysia announced em1 with 12-40mm at RM7599

The OM-D E-M5 has 5-axis IBIS too, except that the new OM-D E-M1 has the improved version.

Well, if they say so and in the US they say so too it must be right in the end. :)

Looking forward to it. Guess the 'Pro' level lenses will come with hood which is definitely a good development

Now that the product is released, I am going to move this thread to the rumor thread to be archived.
