All Manual Flash - Old Macro Ring Flash Outputs

Here are some output tested on the 7D taken with the 1200AF-N macro ring flash. THis is the older one with the old flash controller. MAde to mount to the 7D with the help of the FS-1100. Yes its non TTL - full manual. Upon quick test, the X-synx speed max is 1/200sec.

Aperture size needs to be varied depend on magnification (distance to subject).
-1:1 would need aperture of f22/32 or more
-1:2 would need about f16/22
...ans so on..larger aperture as the magnification gets less - further away form subject.

FOr maximum TTL compatibility - the newer 3600-like controller is needed although the light ring can still be used.

Okay here are some early test shots..

Pre-conclusion ...it works perfectly with the 7D in full manual.
Will test out on the filed in a few days time..

U can actually see the fours points of illumination from the ring flash off the heads of those drawing pins... kekeke...

Stopped by AH today before going back for lunch.....a quickie...
to test out the macro ring flash usage on insects...

For the first one, should have turned the lower light off as the brance was very close to the bottom of flash...a bit burnt out..

It was hot!!!! really hot!! out there today...

The old model...uses the same AF1200 ring flash that needs a new controller if you want TTL. In BH photo the 1200ring itself already about $190USD.
