when will the twin-lens kit be available locally?

if i get it with the kit lens, i kinda need a telephoto, but not smth with the build of the 50-200 though.

Thanks for contributing your first post to the FourThirds forums. Hehe. If you are willing to learn, and is very interested in photography, go with the DSLRs. Or else, get a compact or maybe a prosumer first and see if you would like to invest in the DSLRs. :D

welcome to the four-thirds section, i'm new here too. you can check out the newbies corner where there is much discussion on considerations for newbies for their 1st digital camera.

http://forums.clubsnap.org/forumdisplay.php?f=8

this section discusses the four-thirds (4/3) DSLR system specifically, so you should widen your net while looking for a camera system that suits your needs.

investing in a DSLR system doesn't end at the camera purchase, it will be a long term investment in lenses, flashes and other upgrades for the particular brand or standard that you intially invested in. take time to read up the forums here and other media to understand this hobby or profession.

compact cameras or prosumers will have an easier learning curve as well as being cheaper to start with and/or to give up photography as a hobby.

since you're in the 4/3 forum, you should also check out the 4/3 website to understand the spirit behind the creation of this open standard for DSLR photography.

4/3 is a great system and it works for me. hope you find something that suits you

Hi guys, thanks for your advice. Will read up other forums to check which type of cameras suit me most.:D

I think somebody mentioned in Sept right?

Hey just surfed up on this website...good breakdown of the e-510 capabilities

http://www.ayton.id.au/gary/photo/Dig_OlyE510_1.htm

I hope Oly can come up with a quick and easy firmware fix as per suggested by Gary:

now I can understand this is necessary in the auto modes BUT WHY CAN'T WE have a mode where if white balance has been preset, manual focus is being used or AF has already been set and using manual exposure, then the mirror just stays locked up, we would then have an almost silent imaging mode with almost zero shutter lag.

.. as well as enable IS to support older OM manual-focus only lenses.

My fren found this japanese website talking about assembly of E510

Something of interest, not sure how useful this is. Any one can help translate? :dunno:

I did the google translation.. check it out here

Hmm.. noticed that someone already posted this website earlier on... but mine got translated to engrish :P

Beautiful shots! The quality of the image is very impressive to an amateur like me! :)

I'm thinking of getting the E510...hope no regrets. Just wondering what the costs of lenses are comparatively to Canon and Nikon. Flash too. :)

Thanks.. he's supposedly an American Cocker Spaniel.. Without him, i'll probably be taking less photos.. hahaha....

Hey Singapore21, as I have always told most pet owners, while your pet is still young, please minimise the use of strobes especially in darker rooms. Their retina and pupils are still developing and constant use of any direct flash will cause damage.

By the way, it has been a long time since I have seen a American Cocker grow up from pup stage... if you can use more natural light, it would be nice to see how you capture its growing up phase over the next few month... especially over the period when it starts shedding and changing coat...

So sweet... what your pup's name??

That is a 4 years old dog?? Wow... that must be a well kept and happy pet! Is he a Cocker+Schnauzer mix? Because his snout is so hairy... very cute indeed... wow. Nice one.

(I apologise for the OT, fellas)... the dog is just so cute and pixie faced for a 4 years old.

Hehe... here's another pic..

(but taken with a canon lah)....

Someone said that it's a cockerpoo (ie. mixed with poodle).. hahahaha....

Wow... your dog is really cute! You should shoot a lot more and sell merchandise! Thanks for sharing... (and we are really going off topic BIG TIME now)...

Well, the E-510 is launched, and many users has already gotten hold of one... time to put the focus on the new coming products :

  • New Pro Body
  • Wireless Flash FL-36R and FL-50R
  • New Lens (quite a number of them)
... and we should start a new thread on those...
