Yep, my bro did some scouting at Yodobashi for Oly prices, it wasn't very encouraging.
I have not move these settings away from their default as I have always shot in RAW and these settings affect jpeg shooting only.
I don't care for the kit lens also but that's because I have better lenses which I can use instead. However, it would seem that the new 14-42mm is slightly better optically than the old 14-45mm kit lens.![]()
I sugget you get a new camera. The E-510 is not showing real life pictures. It is too noisy and the SSWF is out of order, as you can see on the picture of the remote. :bsmilie: Since you say "It doesn't look like that in real life." it must be the camera then. :dunno: The only other thing that it can be is the lens, or?...Actually I'm quite surprised that it looked so dirty in that close-up photo. It doesn't look like that in real life. Can't see those dirt particles at all.... the power of macro-photography !![]()
All pics were taken handheld to check out the effectiveness of the in-body IS of the E-510.

Hey!!! you keep in line please. :nono: Me try polishing apples...Uncle Tomcat...please remember me when disposing of either L1 or E-510...I promise I will take care of them with tender loving kindness. Please do follow Olyflyer's advice. Very good advices he give. And of course, don't think of Blu-By-U. He is trying to get his hands on the E-510. Think of me. :bsmilie:

I don't have any OM lenses and so can't comment. :dunno:Hi Tomcat,
Need you advise, is the effectiveness of the in-body IS of the E-510 still working when shooting with mannual OM lense.
Thank in advance
No need to activate the IS by half depressing the shutter button. The IS will activate every time you depress the shutter button to take the photo.Hi. Can anyone share if you need to wait for the IS to work before depressing the shutter fully for E510?
For the Minolta 7D, the IS has to be activated by half pressing the shutter button, wait till the sign comes on that says IS is activated, then you can fully depress the shutter to take the pic.
Thanks.

There must be something wrong with the SSWF as there were so much dust particles in that pic which were not present in real life. I was very disappointed with the camera and had immediately rushed down to Olympus Singapore to complain about the problem. They took one look and immediately agreed to replace the defective E-510 with another new one. Kudos to Olympus Singapore !

The pic of the same remote control taken by the replacement camera now showed very much less dust.
Everything is alright with the world again !![]()
If that's how you define it, then nope, I supposed there is no lag time as far as my experience with the E-510 is concerned.Zero lag time for the IS system to work?
I hear that IS systems need some time to adjust itself to your hand or environmental motions, and I think that's what anthony.phua is getting at.
