Actually I have some problem power on the camera yesterday. When I switch on, it ask me which USB connection....(but my USB cable is NOT PLUG IN!!!). Then I choose EXIT, which asked me to power off the camera. It repeated several times until I physically plug in the USB cable to sort of "reset" it. Then it came back normal.....

Not sure if this is "serious" problem as I am a newbie and just bought my 1st DSLR....

The extra battery costs S$120+ I think.

And that's a weird problem. You wanna call Olympus Service Centre and check?

About S$20-30 from Ebay if you want to take a chance with 3rd-party batts.
So far I've gone through 2 3rd-party batts and they were OK. One of them seems to be overdeclared in terms of capacity, though (eg. actually 1200mAh instead of 1500mAh).

I rather not try those 3rd party batteries from eBay. Some are not up to standard at all. Some with poor cells and control boards. But there are some who are not too bad. Depends. ;p

I am not sure bout the Oly bag, but I did register online with Olympus, Its says that I need to register my older model of Olympus camera and the new model which I have just purchase to get the 4GB CF card.

Hope I can still get it. Then plus my 2x2GB card, I can take lots of pictures. End up the next thing I need will be another battery.

By the way its my first DSLR camera too.

As for the problem, I think it is better to bring down Olympus to get it checked, since it is still new, should there be anything wrong, at least they can do a 1 for 1 exchange for you.

Yay bought my E-510 at SITEX today, a bit lousy deal judging by the prices ppl are getting here tho.

1499 for dual lens kit + lowepro bag + 2GB CF*2 + usual stuff lar tripod, lens cleaner...

Anyway, looking forward to becoming an active member of the olympus community here.

My Canon and Nikon fanboy friends are already laughing at me (claiming that my fourthirds sensor is so small and noisy). Hopefully everyone here can help me prove them wrong .

I am a newbie too. The main reason why I chose Olympus out of Sony, canon and Nikon is because of the color that Olympus produced. I think for supporters of Canon or Nikon, they would of coz protect their own fav brands lol...

Once used an Olympus PNS super zoomer in the past (belonged to my friend) and was impressed by the colors that it produced. So when buying my first DSLR....Olympus comes into my mind therefore I have chose E510,:lovegrin:

And to add on...I am anti Sony products lol...be it LCD TVs, PS3 or PSP. LOL...I just would not get it.
Far over priced for their stuffs.

Ya..i think you can still get the bag and 4G CF card....I just got mine last Friday..just walk into the redemption counter with the print out of your email, warranty card, your old camera.....I think they still have a lot of stocks.

Mmm....i am crossing my fingers, hoping my camera wouldn't give me problem later. If the USB thing occur again, sure I will go bug the Oly service center.

I dun recommend using 3rd party accessories, especially batt.
I used a 3rd party remote control on my Oly C770 before and it isn't working after few times. Wasted my $$$ on that.

imagine you pay so much for the trip and then when you reach there want to take nice pics, the items fail on you

or your photos store in 3rd party card and end up corrupted..

i am using 1x original n 2 x eastgear blm1 for my 3 weeks trip to Virginia, Tennessee & North carolina...few k of pic...batt nver fail me at all ...infact, the oem lasted longer than the original.

Got wat... all Kingston, Sandisk, Lexar, Transcend is 3rd party brand... he swears by Olympus xD cards only.

Bro,

No true. I was in Shenzhen and my colleagues warned me about the Kingston/San Disk CF/SD that are too cheap to be real. The card is real enough and it works but it ain't made by Kingston. More like Kingson. :bsmilie:
