Alienbees

I have tested the yongnuo rf602 on the einsteins. Worked perfectly.

I believe the rest of the brands dun come with such portable high capacity battery like the vb mini, though i have seen forums where the mini works with other brands. Personal feel of the einsteins is i will carry them out more often than the other strobes like jinbei, ability to overpower the sun with great portability.

woah LearninKin, your comments sound really appealing and convincing. :)

but if I like to use my existing rf triggers instead PW?
how about AB warranty? seems only serviceable in US and AU.

thanks too as you mentioned about elichrome, bowen, jinbei, few korean brands like fomex, rimelite.
I remember Manda photo carries them.. opps anyway i think OT too much since this thread is on AB..

you can use your existing rf triggers on almost any strobe
PW is only ... if u see the video in the link i posted

yes no warranty, but should not be a problem for me

How much are you all paying for your einsteins with everything in? Not sure if I should get one...

buy whatever u all u need/want

right now i cannot really tell how much am i paying for the units yet, i am a risk taker
maybe it might end up more expensive than profoto? hahaha

i only know i had spend USD $1782 (this is chargeable by CGW and inclusive of the 5% service fee)
there also shipping from PCB to CGW + CQW to SG + 7% GST
HTH

How much did you pay for your shipping in total?

One thing i want to ask, my sis is in USA currently. If i buy the vagabond mini, will she be able to bring it back through her luggage? I read somewhere that there may be problem with battery in the luggage across customs.

Love the vb minis, can charge anything other than lights. Used it once to charge iphone. I haven tried laptop as i dun have them.

just a question about the vagabond mini, can it power non Paul C buff products? Like Fomex etc.

And where can i get them? only online?

luggage i think cannot, cargo probably
infact i check with other courier, not all are able to ship the battery pack

and yes, there this usb port for u to charge your electronics
at first, pple mistake this usb is for charging the battery pack

Have to weight the cost again ordering from the AUS vs US website. The shipping from USA is not cheap so have to weight against the higher price and cheaper shipping from AUS.

I got a friends who also managed to get his friend to bring back the Einstein and Vagabond mini. The VB mini has a cert which allow you to carry the battery on board a flight.

For those Alien Bees users, you can join this facebook page.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/151581294942042/

Wow. Thanks for the info. Think ill be getting it.

Is still WAY much cheaper to ship in from USA via CGW after i do my maths
just warranty problem .. :)

the best is to share cost and shipped in

someone selling second hand einstein here
do check it out :)

to save your $$, accordingly to my experience

buy these from PCB
1) esintein (dual voltage)
2) vb mini
3) 7inch reflector + honey comb > good price
4) bulbs + flash tubes
5) PCB power commander and related
6) pocket wizard MC2 , if ur using tt1/tt5

buy these from amazon
1) all softboxs: square / rectangle / strip / octagon - is half the price
2) snoot - is cheaper cos u buy 1 instead of 3 from pcb
3) beauty dish - the one from AB, the material like milo tin , is cheaper and even bigger!
4) color gel

buy from manda photo
1)all softboxes
can get the formex brand is decent imo. just ask for Balcar speedring - cheaper than PCB

2)barn door - $40
3)light stand - <$50

:( ordered everything from PCB. Softbox no choice that time, wanted the foldable one. Beauty dish i thought they were cheap at pcb.

Not so bad as i enjoyed the full discount for 4 lights. If not more heart pain.

those foldable is also half the price from amazon :)

enjoy your lights ...
they are pretty decent and is really small and compact

looking forward to order the power commander and receiver hehehe

count me in if all of you are ordering from the US. Shared shipping will definitely be alot cheaper.

Just bought a Elinchrom Deep Octa 39" from B&H and the Kacey Alienbee to Elinchrom mount. Nice adapter from Kacey which will allow all Alienbees light to accomodate the elinchrom softboxes. Testing it this weekends. Details will be in the Alienbees Singapore facebook page.

One thing i find is the mount not very secure. The spring is not strong enuf like that. Got one time my softbox drop out, maybe i was moving around the light abit. I will prefer bowens type of mount.

Anybody got any quick easy solutions??
