actually evaluating under a better buy and best value, profoto is out for me.
comparing this AlienBee and Jinbei DC400/600, which is better and affordable??
I have a existing softbox from studioutfitters in bowen mount. Jinbei better for me?
budget wise only within 700, thus DC600 already is a stretch for me.
I would want portability as priority..
this thread seems to make alienbee a very good catch

hmm..
i have used alot of lights and is all up to individual preference and the depth of your wallet.
Profoto sure is top of the range, they have this 500 watts kit @ $2k
Decent, neat looking imo and probably the most consistent light around
but what freak me out is the individual price of the accessories!
you can request this pdf from the agent in sg
they are 3rd party around but then if ur already getting profoto u might as well get the original accessories ..
theres also elichrome, bowen, jinbei, few korean brands like fomex, rimelite
actually they are all pretty decent.
my take is if u can get AB through comgateway or vpost from USA u might as well get the highest voltage
and pls check out the price difference in US and Aussie site, is huge!
Once my first order is cleared, i will order another 2-4 einstein
those keen to tag along can pm me, but i take in another 1-2 pcs only more cos comgatewa state they can order a max of 8 items from PCB
reason i am choosing the einstein
1) dual voltage
2) small & cheap
3) come with their own VB mini and i can shoot outdoor
4) control via pocket wizard, now i only need the MC2 instead of tt5+ac9
