Alienbees

Did u order recently? And what did u order from aussie?
Wondering what was the exchange rate for CC and total cost of ?

I bought it about 4 months ago... The cost of 1 VB mini + additional battery + einstein + 7" reflector is about $1600 nett include shipping and GST

That's faaaaassstttt.......
The shipping from US can be as high as USD500....
Anyone wanna order? so i tumpang, or wanna me to order then u tumpang..?? ha ha ha .... can try Aus...

Yes the shipping from US is super expensive. in terms of saving, not really alot.

The Aus side still does not carry the PW module for einstein. I don't mind tumpang and we have a mass order. I want to get some stuffs from them too..

You can't bro.. You need to get the bowen to AB speedring. I know westcott sell all kinds of speedring but i think those shop which sell oem should have..
For now i am using the Westcott Apollo softbox. Will be getting the kacey beauty dish..

How much are the ABs?

Hi Bro, i DIM one, for non-umbrella type... and 2 for umbrella type...

i already try my luck with comgateway ..
pls note US site does not sell 230VAC lights anymore
i am requesting comgateway to get them to deliver the 230VAC light for me
and also the aussie flagship hate increase $60 for their b1600 light

worst so, order the lights from aussie, accessories from us :)
will update

status update:
CGW already placed my order and looking forward to my lights :)

How much is the shipping?

actually evaluating under a better buy and best value, profoto is out for me.
comparing this AlienBee and Jinbei DC400/600, which is better and affordable??

I have a existing softbox from studioutfitters in bowen mount. Jinbei better for me?
budget wise only within 700, thus DC600 already is a stretch for me.
I would want portability as priority..

this thread seems to make alienbee a very good catch ;) hmm..

To me, its better that u buy the strobe that u want. Put budget out of the window since its not a profoto already. What matters is u will keep using the strobe and not leave it rotting at home, become white elephant

so actually is a 400w able to overpower the sun? ok I should ask if my freq shots are to be taken in morning early hrs or late noon, where sun is not at its strongest, 400w is a good start right?

400w might barely over power the sun. However, this depends on the distance of your strobe to the subject and the type of modifier used.
I would recommend a 600w strobe or more..

If budget is a concern, why not wait and save up abit more to get a more powerful strobe. It is better than you get a 400w and discover that it is not able to meet your expectation.

i have used alot of lights and is all up to individual preference and the depth of your wallet.

Profoto sure is top of the range, they have this 500 watts kit @ $2k
Decent, neat looking imo and probably the most consistent light around
but what freak me out is the individual price of the accessories!
you can request this pdf from the agent in sg
they are 3rd party around but then if ur already getting profoto u might as well get the original accessories ..

theres also elichrome, bowen, jinbei, few korean brands like fomex, rimelite
actually they are all pretty decent.

my take is if u can get AB through comgateway or vpost from USA u might as well get the highest voltage
and pls check out the price difference in US and Aussie site, is huge!

Once my first order is cleared, i will order another 2-4 einstein
those keen to tag along can pm me, but i take in another 1-2 pcs only more cos comgatewa state they can order a max of 8 items from PCB

reason i am choosing the einstein
1) dual voltage
2) small & cheap
3) come with their own VB mini and i can shoot outdoor
4) control via pocket wizard, now i only need the MC2 instead of tt5+ac9

HTH

but if I like to use my existing rf triggers instead PW?
how about AB warranty? seems only serviceable in US and AU.

thanks too as you mentioned about elichrome, bowen, jinbei, few korean brands like fomex, rimelite.
I remember Manda photo carries them.. opps anyway i think OT too much since this thread is on AB..
