Haven't tried the VB yet, as i have yet to receive them.

While waiting for the PCB SB to arrive, i've used my Einstein (without PCB speedring), with mod version mounting to mount the Jinbei softboxes. Not an issue at all. Just to share that the AB mounting is different from Bowen / Elinchrome ...etc. None of the mounting can be used without mod.

Some photos done with alienbees AB1600 + AB400 with Vagabond mini.

Just to correct some specification inputs that i've read here.

The alienbees CANNOT take different voltages. You've either got to get the 110v or the 230v.
The Vagabond mini CAN be charged with different voltages, either 110v or 230v. BUT there are different output models. So you should get the same voltage model as those of your lights.

I think u r talking about the b400,800&1600. Einsteins can accept dual voltages.

Mine just came. One thing im puzzled by the vb mini, 2 stickers at 2 components say different voltage output... Charging the unit is no problem. But the output voltage i not sure alredi..

check the output socket... 120v and 230v different de...

To be precise, Einstein accepts variable voltage as input... range from 95V to 265V. Any supply falls within this range, Einstein is able to work properly...

Likewise for VB mini, the inputs can be varies. There are 2 models of VB Mini for two different output, one is 120V and another 230V.

if your planning is to match VB mini with your Einstein, be it 120V or 230V, should be ok, as Einstein accepts both.

I just got my 2 sets VB Mini last week. 1 opened and another not yet. Let me know if you wanna try your elinchrom to VB Mini before buying...

Understand that some Profoto lightings are not suitable.... may need to do a search in google to find out details. For my case, i got the Einsteins from PCB and so the VB, so no problem for the matching thingy...

By the way, VPost does not accept orders for Photography products, the insurance terms are also weird.... I tried and they turned down my request. Think Aus is quicker though is slightly more expensive....

You guys can try using comgateway instead of vpost. If I'm not wrong they're cheaper than vpost and ship everything except contraband and dangerous items. I used them to ship quite a lot of stuff from amazon in the past. Really good customer service too

but now cant buy directly from AB USA right?
the price difference in USA/Aussie is Huge!

I told then of the huge different they only say we can only order from the Aussie side and the huge different is Aussie side's profit and business cost. So in another words the huge different is transferred to us. But if you have friends whom order direct from them before they have an Aussie agent they would honor those customer's new order. Then I told since they do it for them why not for us the new customer but they would not even want my business. So I guess I have to take my business somewhere else. I mean I know U S is cheaper by at lest 30% even with the more expensive shipping cost from U S. So why would I have to pay more for the same thing a U S buyer in an internet purchase? Made no sense to me.
