It is monsoon season there now right? Please forgive my limited knowledge... I am reading stuff that folks on other planes in that area reported cloud cover but not necessarily extreme weather...radar images that I have looked at show what appears to be big nasty storms however...

Just to give you an idea: the afternoon shower yesterday over my area in Singapore brought down about 40mm rain, that's 40 liters per sqm. And that's pretty normal for the season. Now compare this with the statistics of your area.
And the Philippines just had another typhoon... so the weather is a bit bumpy here at the moment.

Events like these are what they should be using drones for (aerial and aquanautic)...it would be way more cost effective and much safer I think and maybe even more successful in this sort of mission. If we are able to send spacecraft to other planets and out of our solar system (if there really are others out there they are probably saying look at these morons littering up the galaxy haha) surely we could do this here at "home" too???

Americans seem scared to death Kim or someone is stealing airliners for whatever nefarious purpose. I wish I could say to all...you think a State sophisticated enough to steal airliners and load with whatever weapons does not already have airliners??? I mean come on let's be realistic here.

It is really a sad state that we are in nowadays...these passengers are innocent people and this is a terrible tragedy.
