Hmm
I am wondering if the 35/1.8 might be equal or even better than 28/1.8

Wouldnt that be worse? That narrow DOF by the f1.2 would either make it look like it was shot with a macro lens, or the subject was photoshopped unto the background. If bokeh balls is wad u r aiming for in the background, f1.8 is round enough for most focal lengths. f1.2 makes no significant improvement in bokeh performance.
And I hardly see anyone use f1.4 or f1.2 aperture for photography. Saw a few shots using f1.4 but with flash and used creatively. f1.4 or f1.2 is more suited for videography, for focus racking in filming rather than for photography.
did you try the 35mm f1.4 or the 24mm f1.4??
shot at 35mm f1.4. The background is slightly blurred. It is all about subject distance... sometimes, you don't want to be so close to subject and yet want to make your subject stand out a bit.

gut feel 28mm F/1.8G nano should outshine 35mm F/1.8G Ed... due to nano coating...
imho, nonethless, depends on what you shooting, both give difference AoF.
I just wonder why 35 f/1.8G ED does not have nano coating.
Actually a lack of Nano-coating does not mean that lens will be inferior to its brother 28 f/1.8G.
You are paying for what you get! Probably they done it so that the NanoCrystal Coating will only be on the 1.4 to push the sales?
I meant that for Nikkor f/1.8G prime lens, only 28 f/1.8G has Nano Crystal Coat(N)
The rest of the brothers
do not have Nano Crystal Coat
- 35 f/1.8G FX/DX
- 50 f/1.8G
- 85 f/1.8G
Why does Nikon treat 28 f/1.8G so special ?

Because it's only the single 28mm Nikon currently have in their arsenal? Or at least at the time of introduction.
I'm wondering if the 28/1.8 might be better.

Nikon still have an absolutely extraordinary lens, the Nikkor 28mm f/1.4 AF-D. It is as sharp at f/1.4 as it is at other apertures (claimed by Rockwell). No nano coating for this AF-D lens.
AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED FX is so bokehlicious
