AF-S 85mm F/1.4G N

I did a test shot last night on a piece of White paper with black wordings. I noticed front bokeh wordings has slight purplish while d back bokeh wording becomes with greenish. Could it be becoz of the artificial lightings in my room? But I did use a pop up flash to illuminate it. I'll post the photo later with my laptop after my dental check up! :)

Hi Pete, how's your dental check-up ?

I wish everything was going fine ! :)

Yes, Pete...Toothless cannot speak, can type right? Haha :D

The above pics are all taken with D300s, f1.4, 1/60sec, iso400, focal length 127mm

Excellent. Thanks for the update!

I am convinced that the G is not worth the money to upgrade from D

was expecting bleeding sharp pic from the G...seem it only marginally sharper

Yah, besides having two stitches in my mouth for removing wisdom tooth, I'm fine. Thanks!

Lunas, I can shout already! :)

Anyway, does anyone knows if this lens is compatible with nikon's teleconverter? Thinking of letting go my 70-200 since it's underuse and get a teleconverter just incase I needed extra zoom. Thanks.

Guys, I dunno if it's the way I took the pic that does not show the true beauty of this lens coz i just aim and shoot. Maybe we should wait for more samples before saying the G is not worth it :) I dun want my friend to kill me ;p

If shooting flowers for comparison test, that can't justify the sharpness of the lenses as the wind will keep blowing. Unless the flowers shoots were done indoors.

But with the new G lens, you will get about 1/3 stop brighter, which is good (more pleasing bokeh).

Nope, the new 85 1.4G does not fit into any teleconverter

How do you get 1/3 stop brighter?

I dunno if it's 1/3 stop, but really it's brighter when i tried it with the same settings :D

it is not because of the lighting lah. That is THE longitudinal chromatic aberration. Once you know what to look out for, you will see it quite often...

That is why I don't like f1.4 lens. I THINK most f1.4 lens show more LoCA even when stopped down to f2.8 compared to a f2.8 zoom at f2.8.

Can you do manual exposure in a controlled lighting with a tripod set in a fixed location? Better to remove any variables that would lead to more questions.

thx for the comparison shots.

the G definitely seems brighter and warmer than D.

The Glens image looks like about 1/3 stop brighter.
Not sure whether it's exactly 1/3 stop, just my personal opinion.
