Hi everyone.
Am thinking of getting a prime lens (35mm f/1.8G) for taking portraits.
However, just wondering whether it is possible to adjust the aperture or is it always locked in at f/1.8?

thks.

Yes, of cos it can be adjusted. 1.8 is the max aperture.

F1.8 is the maximum aperture setting you can use, and it does not mean you MUST shoot and f1.8.

you must not fall into the trap of shooting at max aperture

Hi... welcome to CS.

Do learn on the sweet spots of lenses and each lens have their own pecularities. Shooting wide open is largely done when you need to isolate the subject (using thin DOF) or when you have poor lighting.

But I'd suggest that you practise shooting at smaller apertures such as f2.8 onwards for a start.

Remember to choose Aperture or Manual mode on ur camera

Or ur camera will choose the aperture setting instead of u choosing :bsmilie:

Dear all.
Thanks for the useful advices.
Will go hunting for my first prime lens when the price is right...
