Advice on which to get - E-PL2 or NX11

i bought the E-PL2 in white, with 14-42mm kit lens! quite happy with the pictures taken! :D

by the way, may i ask, if it is better to get 40-15mm lens or the wide-angle pancake lens? for travel photography purposes?
and is the 14-42mm sufficient for local shooting?

Depends on what subjects u like to take. Some of my thoughts; 14-42 is pretty much a 3 x zoom. If u had been using compact cam with a 3x zoom all along, and served u well, u r set to travel with just that. The new kit lens is actually very small already imho.
Each lens u mention has a different purpose:
17mm is not as wide as kit but it's brighter and good for street shots and light walk around as well as handheld night shots.
40-150 is telephoto and good for portraits (subject isolation) with it's long focal length. It's quite useless for low light photography.
14-150 is an all rounder for travelers who doesn't want to change lens often. But again not a low light performer. Best to have a tripod.

Personally I like the pany 20/1.7 for it's low light perf, sharpness with some shallow depth of field. I travel with this lens most of the time on my epl1, plus 9-18 for wide landscapes, manual lens for portraits.

So which type of photographer are u?

If you shoot a lot indoors and in cities/urban areas and want to travel light, I strongly suggest the Panasonic 20mm/f1.7. This has been rated by many people and sites as probably the best m4/3 lens today.
Its small and light but the really good thing about it is that it excels in low light, i.e. indoors, pubs, walking around town at night, concerts etc. For me, Its my fav walkabout lens.

For my kit, I typically carry my kit zoom (14-42) and panny 20mm when I need a casual walkabout setup. Its light, gives me reach (14-42) and allows me a low light lens for indoor/street photography.
Of course what you shoot may be different : )

The telezoom is good if you need a 10x zoom.. and usable only in bright surroundings as its not really a "bright" lens. YMMV..

My m43 setup is just my E-P1 and 17mm and FL-36R hahhah

I would also recommend the panny 20mm as the companion lens to your 14-42 until they come out with a faster lens that is wide enough.
Of course my setup varies depending on what I shoot so yours definitely is different too.
Else go crazy and carry everything since 6 lens shouldn't weight that much. :p

Interestingly, I've managed to fit everything into a crumpler 5 mdh...

Same here leh, mine is the old version crumpler 5 mdh.
If I take away my water bottle I can put in every lens I got and a FL-36.
Of course the sad part is the tripod can't squeeze in. :(
Now we just need something else to top it by using a 4 mdh to cramp the whole cabinet in :)

Wah lao eh, people girl lei, ask her carry 6 lenses hahahah

"micro" four thirds mah... = light?

200g X 6 = 1.2kg = heavy hahahah, some people complain DSLR heavy already lei, only like 700g like that hahahha, not aiming at TS, but some people I know do complain lol

hehe. the weight and size of the epl2 with the kit lens is just right for me. any good camera bags to intro?

another question: is it impt to keep the camera in a dry box? i was given a drybox that looks like those Tupperware. there's silicon beads inside. what should i do with them?

How about the Thinktank Retrospective 5? It looks good and seems to be of good material.

Its important after shooting by the beach and cleaning it I guess... Or long time storage when you won't be shooting, for example studying for exam? I keep mine in there cause I'm going for NS soon hahaha. Those drybox that are air tight with dry silica just dump the camera in,though its a bit hard to keep the humidity constant. But if you use your camera very often or your air con is constantly on, most likely wouldn't really need a dry box, but probably a small digital one would suffice if you feel that you really need to have one

Hi,

When I bought EPL1 last year, I thought 14-42 was enough. But after trying out 14-150, the feeling is shiok! great for street shot! Downside is slow and useless in low light though. But, overall, it's a great all-in-one lens if you do not intend to change lenses, like me!

I went to Japan with 14-150 only. I loved every moment of it! Relatively light (compared to you-know-what).

Not 6 lens lah, the 7-14mm is a loaner from my friend which I carry on and off in the top pouch.
Anyway, I have seen ladies shooting macro with a Canon 7D, 100mm macro lens and MT-24 which happens to be the total weight of my setup.
So I won't be surprise if TS tells us 6 or 5 lens from m43 is light.

If you shoot everyday then don't bother with your tupperware, you will throw more blood trying to keep the silcon from turning purple.
And please don't eat them, I know some jokers will suggest this sooner or later.
If you are sure you will only use the lens once a week then by all means throw that lens into the tuperware filled with blue colored silcon beads (purple means a trip to the microwave to dry it) and tape it up.

I know what you mean, I had a 14-140mm. It was great to have an all-rounder (heavier than Oly 14-150mm) when you walk around but it is not L-lens loh.
Crappy F4 to F6.3 means it is useless shooting action indoor.

Oly, Panny or whoever makes m43 lens, please make us an L-lens that everyone can be proud to say that m43 doesn't suck.

toooo expensive! haha

where to get silicon beads? is there another alternative?

Not sure where sells now, but you can get a small digital cabinet

and where can i get that? any specific shop where i can find the small digital cabinet? price? :P
