Advice needed.... Is this sharp?

Mod this 20D to IR, trying on the 17-40mm lens. Any advice is this picture sharp?

Structures looks ok .. but leaves are soft ..

Yeah... strange, for some reasons the photos look just a little soft.
You know, the 17-40mm is supposed to be good for IR.
But strangely I seem to notice a little bit of mild hot spot in the centre of the 2nd and 3rd photos.
Can you post some more photos?

Yes, not sharp enough
A bit strange that we can see those thin lines under the bridge structure.
And 17-40mm F4 is suppose to be good for IR
I also tested your camera and lens but pictures turn out sharp even at wide open :think:
Maybe you can post my test shots, maybe something wrong with my monitor.
Better yet, let's test the camera together

Try putting a very thin shim (the silver one) on the bottom left where you screw the sensor. I think the sensor is not leveled imho....:dunno:

Sharpness of a lens can be hard to judge on reduced size images. They also seem to be a bit underexposed.

Straight from the camera (no post processing done).

Focus point setting: all points selected

I believe the camera selected to focus on the bridge.
All the points with the same distance (with respect to the camera) is sharp:
- The lines on the station roof is noticeable
- The guy at the station platform can be seen. If a newer camera model was used, maybe we can even see his face. hahahaha...

All other point out of focus maybe because of shallow depth of field (longest focal length and wide aperture)

I could be wrong/ I could be right but your inputs will definitely help me and Andy improve.

You're right, it will be sharper at smaller aperture.
Test was done on max aperture to see the worst case setting
