Advice needed for someone clueless

I am reaching out to the informed and seasoned camera aficionados in this forum to offer someone (me), who is essentially clueless about cameras on how to dispose of old film cameras. I am in the process of clearing out stores, which included some old SLR film cameras - Canon EOS 888, Canon 300D and Canon 650D. I am quite sure that there no market for these cameras except perhaps a small niche group which is nostalgic about film cameras. As such, there cameras have little or no market value (my presumption). Other than giving them away to those who may want them for keepsake, can anyone consul me on ways which I can get some value out of them - perhaps if the camera bodies are worth nothing, the lenses may have some value. The cameras had been sitting in my dry boxes over the years and to the best of my understanding, they still work. Any advice or suggestions much appreciated and will be of tremendous value to me.

Your thoughts create your reality. You already contradicted yourself by stating except a niche group. Giving cameras without a lens is useless unless you think they have value but it can be a hassle as there will be takers like those resellers unless you don't care who you give them to and also the time to communicate and arrange the pickup.

Film cameras is a niche market , just browse Carousel. Yes lenses are more useful as it can with an adapter be used on current digital mirrorless cameras. Again, browse Carousel to know what sellers prices are.

If you don't want the hassle donate them to Salvation army nearest to you. That way you have done your part with regards to recycling but salvation army will resell them.

For more convenience just throw them into recycle bins in your neighbourhood . Some just throw them into rubbish bins which I have come across. which I retrieved. Hope this helps.

Btw film era lenses do have character qualities and are sought after by videographers.

Mainly, you validated my suppositions on disposal options for my film cameras. At the same time, you offered other options which plan to pursue - except dumping them in recycle bins which is not a dignified end to equipment which largely served me well. Thank you again.

Decision is up to you. Check if cameras are in working condition before giving away or selling them. If they are DSLR you can reuse their lenses with an adapter on mirrorless cameras or also sell them. Also check if lenses are free from fungus or their value will be lowered or unusable.

Ps: Check that Ithe person is genuinely a newbie or student and not a reseller claiming to be such.
