I owned the lens. It's decently sharp at f2, but there will be traces of coma. It gives highlight edges a "glow" which while might look soft, can also look quite nice. F2.8 coma is gone.
The lens is sharpest at about f5.6. However comparing to the zm(not FE) 35mm distagon, you might think the loxia is not sharp. The point however is, if you print at a3, most people will not see the difference in sharpness unless they intentionally look for it, and missing the point of photography.
Unless you often crop heavily into the frame, then the difference will be slightly obvious.
Most zeiss primes have managable distortion.
Ergonomics... This is where the a7rm2 and loxia 2/35 fits like a glove. The lens is designed for a a7 body, hence the placement of the aperture and focusing ring are well thought out. It has a short focus throw from 5 to 2 meter, plus because the loxia communicates with the camera, you can auto magnification the moment you turned the ring. Some people found that annoying, but if you do not want the zoom to toggle, just half press the shutter while you turn the focus ring. Very nice to operate.
I think that depends what you kind of photography you do. I like street photography, so a 35mm f2 manual lens is good enough for me..I am convinced to get the A7 Rmk 2 and wanted to start with a 35mm prime lens but really hardtime to decide which 1?
Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8
Sony Zeiss distagon 35mm f1.4
Loxia 35mm f2.0
like the quality on distagon but it is really huge!
Like the quality of Loxia but it is manual.
35mm f2.8 but aperture not high enough.
All experience brothers here would like to comment further on above issues?
Really appreciate a lot on your input!

Edmund, if money and weight is no objecf to you. The sony zsiss distagon is really good. I like it.. but I still prefer the astatic of the voightlander 35mm f1.7.Thanks Stephen for the reply...
Yah i was thinking abt Loxia 35mm as 1 of the better choice too.
I like street photography and landscape as well as macro too ..
but maybe near future need a quicker zoom lens for family or party events...
Cheers
