A7r mk2

hi guys!
i also join the a7r2 camp yesterday XD
would like ask u guys if u r using la-ea3/4 on ur system..do u leave it attached to your camera/lens all the time?? or u took it off each time after use?

I use the LA EA3. Dont have the La ea 4. I leave it attached to my 70-400G all times. Since thats the only A mount lens i have. Make no sense to put it on n off everytime i need to use it.
Only thing is .. now the lens is even longer. n 100g heavier?

just curious..you manage to disable the CDAF? How?
I also bought the laea3 and sold my laea4 and kinda regretted now because the AF on the lead isn't fast at all and hunts all the time...probably because of the CDAF..i don't see the CDAF square though..i only see the small green squares.

Sorry. I dont quite understand what you meant...
But.
How I disable?
Erm there is only 2 options to choose. I just choose the PDAF.. instead of CDAF.. because the CDAF is so slow that its very unusable for me.

thats what i thought too, just wondering is there any downside if i leave it there haha..

If you are willing to splurge i think the rrs is probably the best L plate you can get. Especially if u need cable access in portrait mode.

RRS L-plate's gap huge enough for cable access in portrait mode? None of the RRS plates I used previously for my Nikon is able to, did they redesign for Sony?

erm. why would there be any SERIOUS downside..besides setup become slightly longer and heavier.
You're worrying too much... :D

I just realised there's a menu optino to select PDAF or CDAF when using the LAEA3..haha..that's what happens when you don't read the instructions :) Annyways, tested that PDAF works much better than CDAF..so just use PDAF

Right. there you have it.

Yes, the Sony RRS L plate can be slide out to accommodate the USB plug for portrait mode.

last night when i was testing the vid on my a7r2 with 50 1.4..somehow the aperture was fixed at 3.2 ..any limitation or setting that lead to this?

Not using the r2 but should be the same as other a7, check that you're in either manual or aperture priority when the dial is in movie position. You can see which mode you're in either by pressing fn or going into your menu.

thx man..didnt know i need to go that movie position to set first...so if i understand it correctly..i cannot use autofocus in A or M mode for movie??

I guess you are using A mount lens. For A mount lens with LAEA4 adapter, you cannot change aperture when using autofocus.

so native FE lenses no such limitation?? good to heart that!

im really stucked btwn ea4 and ea3....i was thinking keeping only my 2470 2.8 and sell all my other lenses..but that would take me quite awhile i guess..so decided to get ea4 first...

I just want to ask, is it normal for the silent shutter to display banding on photos taken under fluorescent lighting? I mean i was shooting at 1/60 at F4 at home and activating and deactivating the silent shutter with the same settings is a world of difference.

It's perfectly normal. Inevitable.

Silent shutter is best for natural lights. It has it's limitations with all artificial lights because lights flicker..our eyes can't see it but the camera can. Without a physical shutter, it will pick up this flicker and banding will appear
