A7r mk2

shouldn't they be matching it with the LA-EA3 to utilise the on sensor PDAF points?

focusing speed / performance on LA-EA4 is reliant on the adapter itself

I was at 313 a while back and tested the 24-70 F2.8 G SSM II with the LA-EA3 and it was fast and accurate. Same for the 70-200 F2.8 G SSM II.

Though I read somewhere that the A7ii series use LE-EA3 can AF quite well with any A mount lens because something like the built-in contrast focusing.

the lenses must be SSM or SAM driven, not screw AF driven for the LA-EA3 to work.

the sigma 24 art works great with my Techart adaptor, firmware V2.01b. single AF and tracking both perfect even at F1.4.

the lens initially worked on my metabones v4, but end up as only MF on the metabones after a few days.

the sigma 50 art is opposite. works perfectly on metabones, but doesn't lock focus on the techart. But have to say most of my EF lenses are more consistent on the metabones v4. These are the 16-35 F2.8L (works on both), 40mm STM (works on both) 70-300L (perfect on metabones).

135 F2L only in manual focus on both adaptors. Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro only in MF on both adaptors.

Good! I think I will get one. Thanks for your info

depends on your settings and the lighting condition and what are you focusing also..

in any case..it should be pretty fast.

I only have experiences with the SAL 2470z on the A99... AFS was very quick and accurate..however..for cont. AF.. it's quite bad.

When using the 2470z with the LA-EA4, the AF mechanism is entirely in the adaptor. I'm actually using this combo with my A7. Personally I find it quite fast but your reference maybe different from me.

Have you tried it with the LA-EA3?

i nv try EA3 as they do nt have stock..anyway when i buy it will b a7r2 with EA4 too as quite a few of my lenses r nt compatible with EA3 =(

when i tried..i set it to focus with the center box..AF-S...the lighting at NEX sony looks quite bright to me and i tried to focus on few diff things..near..far..bright..dark..contrasy places..n ppl in the shop too(non moving)...but the results r really disappointing..but i really dont think it shd perform like that..thats y i posted here to ask..maybe i forget to set some setting?? as this is the first time im using EA4...or they gave me a lemon EA4 set? lolz..anyway when i hv chance to visit other sony stores i will test it once more..i was actually gonna convince my wife on the purchase yesterday lol!! n after she see the focus speed she look at me n ask me " u sure about this?" hahah..

LA-EA4 is a very different adapter. It has AF module with AF points clustered in the middle. It uses SLT technology to divert some light to the AF module hence the degradation in low light capability. LA-EA3 depends on the AF modules on your A7rII hence maintaining its full capability. Hope this help.

The LA-EA4 more versatile as it is able to drive lenses requiring screw drives which LA-EA3 cannot.

sorry if this has been asked before and pardon me if it sounds noob. on the a7rii, do i have to keep pressing the eye af for the tracking to be continuously activated? Thanks.

Dont have a adapter right now. I will use whichever works...
Sorry. But may i ask. Why not get the batis 25 instead. Wouldnt buying the sigma n adapter end up more cost. Weight and size?

The only good is. Sigma is f1,4. 1 stop faster than batis.

You have to press and hold the button you assign eye-af to.
If you shoot manual mode, I recommend setting it to your AEL button. Change your AF/MF button to AF on for back button focusing. Switch off AF for shutter release.

Thanks for the tips. Minor thing but kinda annoying to constantly press instead of a on/off function. Haha.

the sigma 24 1.4 outperforms the canon nikon sony equivalents and is priced much lower. The adaptor can be used with other EF lenses too.

size yes can be a consideration, if that is the main concern, really need to stick to the FE lenses and RF mount converted lenses.

Hi Ricleo,

Is this the Samyang 24 mm 1.4 that u are talking about? Is it FF and AF?

Been looking for a 24 mm 1.4 for FE mount because I like the look of it.

Sigma 24mm F1.4 Art, not Samyang.

The Sigma is FF and AF. get it in EF and you can mount on smart adaptors for perfect AF. not sure if the Alpha mount has been released yet.

Ah thanks! This time I googled it and found it. Many thanks.

Yup. That is provided if have other ef lenses to use.

The combo is cheaper than batis 25. Sigma 24 costs 11XX, an adapter like Techart costs 3XX, so 15XX at most.
Batis is above 1700 and extremely hard to get.
I give up with all Zeiss brand lenses, they are too difficult to get right now. Guess Cosina doesnt have the ability to produce enough Batis and Loxia lenses.

How about if use LA-EA3 (+A7ii) with A-mount lens from Tamrom or Sigma ?
Example like Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM or Tamron SP 24-70mm F2.8 Di VC USD

hehe i dont have these lenses to test.but some online reviewers seem to show the tamron 24-70 vc works with the metabones 4

Batis demand is high atm, but loxia are in stocks at most dealers, just got mine.
That said, I am very interested if there would be a announcement for a new Loxia this Friday.
