thanks! ya one of the reasons i was considering the c-sonnar also..... tough choice. i already have a VM 50 1.5 and J3 sonnar 50 1.5. FE 55 i have also! hehe.... sharp yes, but the allure of manual 50mm lenses is still hard to resist.

Clarke Quay. This is where I stay when I visit Singapore. It's a great place. I will have to check this lens as it is tack sharp and the bokeh is really nice.

Buy all lah, not expensive. I used to have VM 501.5 chrome also. Beautiful lens

Anyone tried A7r markII with adaptor on a canon 70-200 for sports/motion photography? Auto-focus fast enough?

Answering my own question that I posted: I tried the canon 70-200 Non-IS f4L on the A7RmkII at 313 with a commlite adaptor. Focusing was decent except when zoomed out to 200mm which the camera would hunt a lot to get focus. Otherwise AF and AF-C are ok for 135mm and below. Images are sharp and comparable to the SONY FE70-200 I tried there. Basically same experience as another review I read online.

im looking to get myself a a7r2..however im currently on A-mount(a99)..with milnota 1635 2.8..samyang 14 2.8..cz 2470z..sal 50 1.4..tamron 90mm..135F1.8z..minolta beercan..
would i better off getting a LA-EA4(i assume all my lenses would work with 4)? aside from lens support..wad r the main diff btwn LA-EA3 vs LA-EA4??

LAEA3 will work better for all lenses with SSM focus motor as all 399 PDAF points can be used. LAEA4 is the only adaptor that will work with screw driven lenses. but you are limtied to the 9 AF points on the adaptor and you lose 1/3 - 1/2 a stop of light from the translucent mirror.

I hope there will be a LAEA5 that drives screw mount and does not have the translucent mirror! Maybe some third party should consider making this like metabones or techart.

LAEA3 functionality = metabones canon EF adapter. Only support SSM lenses with AF.
LAEA4 = A57 SLT focusing system + adapter. So you get 15 points PDAF with SLT.

First of all, LA-EA3 is still slower than LA-EA4 on A7R2 for all lenses. Secondly, LA-EA3 struggles with longer than 200mm focal length, especially in low light, totally cannot lock focus with my 70-300G at 300mm in low light. Lastly, LA-EA3 cannot drive most of your lenses.

You should definitely go for LA-EA4.

Yup. Still slow/unusable in many cases.
Besides, I have heard many reports on metabones mk 4 struggle to focus on 70200F2.8LII and 70300L with A7R22. I dont have any AF canon lenses so cannot comment on that..guess depends on firmware version of the metabones

yea i know i hv no choice but to use 4..unless i wan to do a big overhaul on my lenses lol..
about the lesser pdaf points...can i say it doesnt affect me that much as i always use center focus n recompose?? bad habit i know..but im too used to it lol..nt sure the high mp on a7r2 will allow me to do that or nt...
