A7r mk2

thanks for your reply guys...

For such a detailed test and comparison, I think it's best that you wait for "professional" reviews from reliable sites bro. Hope you are not offended by my reply. But from some playing last night, I find that the dynamic range is slightly much better than my previous 1DX. But don't take my word for it. This is from my unreliable comparison. Hope others may help you with your queries as well. :)

1DX is a very good camera, if this A7R2 is better that means it's worth to consider (from the cost point of view). however as some of you mentioned, canon is not so good in dynamic range sensor so need to check further on the thorough review in this regard.

Hey guseliz, when i first dived into my a7r i've been asked "do you actually need 36 mp for daily use?" When i swapped over to the a7II, it was perfect as a stills camera for me ( the 5 axis and all ), i saw no reason to switch over to the a7rii other than its video features. I bit the bullet and did it anyway. You see its really simple, there's really no need to justify your purchases, just get what u feel is comfortable within your budget, at the end of the day, an Iphone or a samsung phone is awesome enough for day to day use. I'm a hobbyist, i take photos only when i travel.

actually the concern is not more on the budget.. but rather, if the additional 3k+ (judging from the cost of upgrading from A7) worth to invest or not.

as we know, as a hobbyist, photography is more fun with proper tools rather than with smartphones. anyway my level is not as high as those that can take photos with any "kind of camera" to get good result :)

Basically all descent sony cameras have better DR than 1DX...canon is not good at this category.

For day to day usage, one clearly ddoesn't need a7r2. A72 even A7 is good enough

yap actually any camera is good however what i mean by day to day use is more on the practical use if we want to take decent photo :)

cheers

Just sharing one of my first few shots with the A7rii :D

Shot with the Sony 16-35mm F4 lens | ISO 2000 F5.6 1/6s with some touchup using lightroom

amazing for a handheld shot.
IBIS is one of the feature in this camera i am interested in :)

1/6!!! With steady shot set to Auto, I still get handshake blur images at 1/15 on a still subject. Is there something I'm missing out here? The lens used was the Zeiss 35 at 1.4. I was thinking oh well, the ibis is not as good as my EM-1 after all. I have no problem shooting at 1/5 on my Oly.

WOW the 5 axis IS really is amazing!! good sharing

Yup. I think the IBIS is pretty good, I can get quite good shots easily in low light with low shutter speed handheld.

Not too sure mabmy, working good for me. :dunno:

More sample photos please. Hehe

Don't forget FE 16-35 has OOS and focal length u used.

I read that for long exposures (30s) the sensor can generate excessive noise. Can a kind owner do some short and long exposure test shots with and without 5 axis stabilization to verify this?
Thanks much.

Thanks to Oly technology in Sony A7mk2 and A7rmk2 ^_^

I think thats when the IBIS is on if i am not wrong. So normally its is advisable to off the ibis for long exposure shots.

Should be $63 as per discussed on previous pages. I think it's good for travels, when you need to recharge fast. But I have 4 batteries now. Lol super kiasu?

dont worry not kiasu, i got 6 lol. I do lotsa vids ( batt juice guzzler ) , always nice to have spare batts in the bag =p

Your 6 batts from Sony or third party? Considering getting more batts but so expensive.

If u r considering getting 2-3 or more batts can Try bhphoto. it's selling @ S$70/batt. Even with shipping u still save money. don't understand why Spore is selling it @ ridiculous prices.

Lucio, don't mind if I check with you on something. I am a A7II user myself. In terms of the IQ, it bugs me that OOC jpegs of indoor pics tends to skewed towards the yellowish side and pics looks somewhat saturated. Is it the same on the RII even with the back lit sensor ? Pics are taken with the "Standard" profile.
Hard to describe, I'm only shooting for now and looking at the pict on the back of the screen, (I'm enjoying the ca,era too much to import the pict on my pc) plus I don't shoot jpg, but I can share my impression with Sony sensors...
I started with entry level canon, then oly(non Sony sensor) And after em5 (Sony sensor) the xt1 and now Sony.. My feeling at looking at the pict from al this cameras are the following..

Canon has a magenta cast, pleasant if you shoot white and Asian ppl
Oly (before Sony) has quite appealing skin tones, don't remember any strong cast on that
Oly em5 my first experience with Sony sensor.. Yes strong yellow cast
Fuji great colors but no detail at all so I sold it..
Sony 7xx again strong yellow cast..
I can't tell now how the new 7r compare because to afford it I sold all my cameras :-) so I can't compare directly, but it seems to be less strong (or maybe I don't mind it anymore)
So to me every camera has some weird color cast to it, I see them as a feature more then an error, and again i work my pict quite a lot in LR and o don't shoot jpg so I don't mind them cause I just make the color that I want in my pict..

Hope that helped... If you want I'm try to shoot a pict on some famous shopping mall where the lighting never changes and post it here, so you can go to the same spot and check how is it,,,

Interestingly, passed by the Padang yesterday and saw Mediacorp using this camera for the NDP celebrations.

Would have to say that the S-log functionality is appealing, from a videographer's POV.

All original. Some were carried over from my previous systems since they all use the same battery. I'm always apprehensive using 3rd party batteries but that's just me. The Originals are pretty affordable when its PWP. Im just lazy to charge batteries when im on a trip.

I'm in KL and just went pass a camera store at Midvalley. Apparently pre order in Malaysia starts from 1st to 16th Aug at a whooping price of RM11,999 (SGD 4311). Metabones IV here is much much cheaper though.

Speaking of adapters, is there any other recommended adapters for the Canon tse-17mm other than Metabones IV? I found a brand called Fotodiox but it doesn't mention if it's good to go with the tse at full shifts with no vignettes.
