As long as there is no NR, you work the NR magic using any commercial software... definitely leaving it to the lottery of the onboard algo which may tweak the noise not according to your taste...

Hey people,

Upgraded to V4 firmware just.

Mounted the 56AM flash, bounce, P-Mode, Auto ISO (1600Max) and WHAM! Wash-out, severe overexposure. But when I tilt the head forward, or switch off and on the flashgun, the exposures return back to normal.

Tested with the 58AM flash. Seems that when I'm "trying something new", like pulling out the built-in reflector, severe overexposure results. Re-setting the position of the bounce head seems to solve the problem? The thing is, I cannot really detect a pattern, nor can I replicate the conditions that lead to the overexposure, therefore, I am not sure what's really going on. So this now makes flash exposures kind of unreliable, which is really quite a worry for me.

Any ideas? Comments?

Check your flash shoe contacts.....looks like a bad contact.

But unlikely the reason, because I tested both flashguns on both the A350 and A700 prior to upgrade and never had this problem before.

Another suggestion: try performing a full reset of your camera.

high possibility of a dirty contact on the flashgun as i've also got this problem when i tried out my flash in the afternoon. cleaned the contacts & working fine now

i still do leave it @ 'low'. the in camera NR not that aggressive anymore

The choice to turn [Off] the High ISO NR feature has been added.
Improvement of the image quality in high ISO setting.
Improvement of the auto white balance and D-Range Optimizer performance.
Improvement of reliability for communication between camera body and vertical grip.

Hope this firmware will solve most of the VG low or can't detect battery issue.

I managed to avoid much of my battery #2 infolithium issues by keeping my VG attached, and secured really tightly.... hadn't kenna that for quite some time liao...

But anyway so whats the verdict? v4 might cause flash exposure during bouncing flash to go haywire? But master reset can solve the problem?
