got an offer by Canon for upgrade to A95 at $138, since its the CCD problems, but right now no stock, was inform stocks will only arrive next week.. not a bad deal and great support.

Hi Tigersg, how do you go about telling them about the upgrade offer??? You mention anything about the post you read in clubsnap & hardwarezone???

sheesh... i had the same problem with my A70 in late Jan this year. I got a friend who worked at Canon to send it in for repair. She was told there was nothing wrong with the camera but I inisited they do some sort of check and I was even willing to pay $80+ for them to service the cam. I feel quite cheated cos I would hv paid the $140 to get a new camera and now I could be stuck with something that may knock out any moment.

Will call canon to complaint on MOnday.

I went and check my camera after reading this thread. My LCD is black, not showing anything except the camera settings. Tried taking a picture, but it turns out all black. CCD problem i guess. :cry:

Anyone know what are the conditions of the camera that would allow you to go for the upgrade?

For repair, go to HarborFront?

yah go harborfront. think ur shd qualify. gd luck :)
 

Confirm CCD faulty.... the CSO still anyhow say focusing mechanism faulty, denying & giving excuses on the exhange program, :thumbsd: blah, blah, blah...

Will be collecting my A95 tomorrow.... :D

Hi All

I own a A70 and still have it with me. I face exactly the same problems with the rest like "Change battery pack" even when I loaded in fresh batteries. Sometimes whole screen will go Black.
Also flickering of the screen.
I given up as I think its not worth to send for repair.
Mine more than a yr old liao. :(

don't give up!!! send it to the repair centre. they will do something abt it.
mine was 1.5 years old when i sent it in, somemore i lost the warrantly!!!!

Tks for encouragement, but if they want to charge me think not worth it.
Rather go for a new cam. :)
 

pay 140 and get a A95... think it's cheaper than spending at least 400 dollars on a new one... and the A95 is a pretty feature rich camera, at least to me :)

or u can claim the A95 then sell it , at least can recoup some loss

The exchange program is at Harbour Front. Maybe I will make a trip there. :)

u cant really expect them to admit it is their product faulty rite??...of coz they will try to savage their reputation as much as possible lor....
 

Same error. Low battery sign and no image in LCD. Just send my A70 in today. 2 years old. No need to produce receipt or warranty. Just tell them from Clubsnap, and follow members said got A95 upgrade if qualify. Seems like mine will qualify too, but still need to wait for 1-2 weeks for them to call and confirm.

So, everyone, send your A70 in if experiencing the same problems.

mine in for 5 days liao. The lady told me must wait for 1 week plus for the technician to call me. She also tried to smoke me when i bring the camera in. I told her most probably CCD problem and asked her abt the upgrade. SHe then act blur then say "oh it looks like ur shutter is the problem" and asked me to ask abt the upgrade to the technician that will call me and not to her. Super act blur abt the upgrade. Lol...

hehehe.... collected my A95 yesterday after a week, comes in a box(new) with manuals, except cables and 3 mths warranty. In fact I had to call them after not hearing from them for a week.

surprisingly..they say can upgrade liao..$147 for A95..mon or tue go collect..they SAY WILL call mi again..if i dun hear from them on tue..i gonna call them again
