A6000

I saw some cheap parallel import sets on Qoo10 going for sub $800. They do not come with local warranty though. Would any bros be able to advise if that is a good buy compared to a local set? I am concerned about the quality of the parallel imported sets and the lack of warranty.

same, especially digital stuff...

Wont trust qoo10 again. Bad experience with counterfeit products even from local sellers.

If you get a good unit, no issue. If you get a unit that is dead-on-arrival, there's the hassle of shipping it back, etc.

You have to weigh the risks vs cost savings yourself. It's a very personal thing as everyone has different risk appetites, plus no one can really predict if you will suay suay kenna a lemon/defective unit that fails 6 months down the road.

If you think you can deal with the potential risks/hassle, go ahead. If you're the kind of person who just wants to buy something with peace of mind, go with a local warranty set.

very true. Absolutely agree. Case in point: my GX8 bought last week had lcd touch screen issues, I didn't do a check when buying it. Luckily I could get it rectified by Panasonic with warranty covered. Of course if it was an overseas set without warranty Panasonic could still fix the issue but may charge some $. If it's a minor issue probably small $ to incur, but what if it's something major. So it all boils down to your risk appetite, how u see the downside vs the upside. For complex electronics, I'll go with warranty.

wah, what you bought ?

think it's not Qoo10 per se, it's the seller who is the problem, right ?

Got some shoes. Reported the case to qoo10 and it was resolved with me getting my money back. But complete waste of my time.

Uhm, looking to get the a6000. does it ever come with the 55-200 as a kit lens or should I just get a normal one and then get another lens? Any reasonable and cheap lens of that range to recommend?

You would have to ask the shop whether you can do a Purchase with Purchase for that lens.
My thoughts. You probably can. I think they use to bundle the 18-55 and 55-200 before.
Just check with the salesperson n the shops. No harm asking.

Thanks trd2970 and TWmilkteaTW , will most likely do that. I did see the previous bundle of 55-200, which is why I am asking. Have to wait till after next week to go shopping. Should I just wait for xmas to see if there are more bundles or will the price actually go up for that period?
Hopefully the price will drop after the launch of the new sony cam :D

Most welcome. If U don't need the cam now, of course better to wait. Prices generally will fall. Good luck:)

Nobody knows. Xmas promotion.. That you would have to wait. If you can wait..sure why not. Price to go up? Hmm...Hardly.. Dont think so.. not in the case of this camera at least. Most of the times.. price only go down not go up. :bsmilie:

Promotions will come on time to time.. new camera will always be release time to time.

There is no right time or best time. You can choose to keep waiting or just get it and starting shoot with it.

Maybe target xmas promo then. Not in a rush, casue no time to take pics also until dec. :D

a6000 from q10 now sells 629-649

A6000 being around for awhile now.. Any news on the next version? Is there any big photo equipment show that Sony is likely to announce new products?

thinking of getting the a6000.
anyone can recommend a macro lens for this a6000 ?
something equivalent to tamron 90mm
Perhaps the 55-210mm by sony?

You may want to look at lens available in Sony Website.
