A6000

The reason i switch between wide and spot AF very often is becuase of what i shoot and the lens i use. Most of the time, the FE55 F1.8 is on my A6000 and i only shoot portraits so with the fe55, it's more like an 85mm lens in a way.
Shooting at f1.8 or f2.8, the DOF is very shallow and the WideAF sometimes doesn't get focus spot on the eyes.Especially when there are 2 people in the frame, it sometimes focuses in between causing out of focus eyes.

It's because of this, i need to use the spot af to move to the correct focus point i need. Yes there's the eye-af but that doesn't work all the time either especially when the subjects aren't actually looking at you :)..spot AF is still the best control you will have with AF points. Wide AF works most times but not when really close up and at really wide apertures.

Thanks for the tip. Have you tried A6000 with CZ24f1.8?

Unfortunately no, because i own the a7r so the lenses i buy are FF lenses for the a7r. I do not own any APSC lenses other thant he kit lens and the 10-18 lens

Anyone noticed that the D-rings at the side for attaching ur camera strap is very small? I tried to attach my 3rd party camera strap that was on my Nex C3 and it fits real tight. Really need to force and squeeze it in. Then I bought a Gariz strap, and it is too small as well.

I'm not too big a fan of their stock neck straps as they seems to be rather rough and becomes uncomfortable after a while.

What kind of straps do u guys use? Do they fit well on the A6000?

You'll have to squeeze in most straps. They'll fit..just squeeze :) I also own the Gariz neck strap and also the Gariz gun slinger attachment but i find both uncomfortable to use so..they're in the cupboard now...waste money.
I actually removed both D-rings...and am now using Peak design's Cuff

I use a strap by Joby, very happy with it cos it's adjustable and comfy

The joby ultrafit? That's my fav strap as well after trying so many others. I use that on my a7r.
And peak capture on the a6k with cuff because I use both cameras at the same time during shoots so I needed a comfortable way to carry both

Yeah, there was a good price on it at Cathay then MTL BBB.

ic.. The peak capture cuff looks interesting. I din know they had straps as their Clip system seems to be their flagship products.

I was looking at those handgrip straps for a while. I liked the idea that is allows the camera to stay on your hands, macham like an extension of your hands. However, the handgrip straps seems llike most of them was made for DSLRs. I'm not sure if it will be too big for the A6000. Anyone have any experience to share? thanks

The whole reason i went for the cuff is because it's sooo easy to remove..Because i do use the joby and the cuff back and forth..with a leather wrist strap or hand grip..it'll just be in the way when i use the joby on it..that's where the cuff shines..i can just clip the cuff on the a6000 OR the a7r within seconds...and the ther camera will be using the Clip OR the Joby...no more fiddling around with removing straps and hooks etc...i've tried many different combo to carry 2 camers at the same time and this by far is the easiest i find...Capture clip + cuff + Joby ultrafit...switching around in all combinations take seconds only!

You mean 50mm f1.8? Maybe buy a basic electronic dry cabinet better for long term. Can get one around 100. Beats changing silicon gel/pellets for dry box

oops.. typo.. i meant 35mm f1.8..

Which is recommended?

Thanks.

Anyone notice that for our models, the default video mode is PAL, and the max frame rate is 1080/50p? In order to activate 1080/60p we have to switch to NTSC mode, which involves formatting the whole sdcard. More annoyingly, when in NTSC mode, there is a popup saying "running in NTSC" every time we turn on the camera.

Is there a way to enable 1080/60p video recording without the annoying pop-up?

I am interested in this camera.
Does any one knows if the hotshoe is compatible with 3rd party flash? like nissin or nikon?
Also what is the price now? Any recommendation to get a better deal? Sony selling $1099 kit.
Thanks

I got mine at $1045 from MS Color, with pwp sel35f1.8 at $547. Email all of them for e-quote, then choose the cheapest option lor ;). Now got Sony Days offer, MTLBBB!

Wah the SEL35F18 is holding its value quite well. PwP price is $547 which is about $13 less than when I first bought it one year ago IIRC.

Hopping to sell my current equipment and get this.

So anyone know is the Hotshoe compatible with 23rd party flashes?

It's a standard hot shoe. Hence third party flashes should work except you wont get ETTL functions and thus have to work in manual mode.
