Hope this is the A6000 user discussion thread.

I am new to Sony E Mount camera.
I wanted to get a small lightweight mirror less camera for travel purpose, shooting portrait plus shooting fast moving objects.
Will the A6000L len good enough? looking for a zoom len too.
Any recommend lens to accompany A6000 for my purpose?

for a start, the SELP1650 zoom lens is a good lens for travel as it's light and compact. If you don't mind changing lenses while you travel, you can also consider the SEL50F18 for portraits. The Sigma AF 19mm f/2.8 EX DN and the Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN are also good lenses considering their price

You might get better answers to your questions in the main Sony forum rather than A6000 specific thread.
Also useful to include is your budget....or else you will be pleasantly surprised at the heavenly suggestions and equally astronomical pricetags.

Personally if you only want 1 lens.for travel...the sel18200 can't be beat

make sure to get the 18200LE and not the older ones. The LE is smaller in size..better for travels..the IQ is actually really good for a superzoom..one lens is really all you'll need for travelling if you have this.

Downloaded the manual but it doesn't go into much details. Hoping some users can help me out with some of my questions:

1. Is exposure compensation enabled in M exposure + auto ISO?
2. Is there a maximum ISO setting?
3. Can we specify a minimum shutter speed?
4. If 2 and 3 are yes, do they work in AF-C mode?
5. Can we specify an AF point in AF-C mode? Been reading conflicting accounts on this

YES there is (you can set the min and max auto ISO)

Yes there is...25600 but you won't want to use higher than 3200 anyways

Unfortunately NO..i miss this feature..not even the a7r has it...to have this, need to use M mode and sort of set your own setting.

Well, yes?

Yes and No..When you select WIDE AF and AF-C, you will see the little green squares jumping around with PDAF. If you use Spot focus and selct the focus point on your own, the AF-C mode will use CDAF to do the tracking and not PDAF so no little green squares, just the large green squares. And no, it's not as fast as PDAF and Wide AF. Even with AF-A same rule applies.

55-210mm - $279

pretty good pricing... the 55-210mm 2nd hand also $250 here alr.. thus got tempted to pwp on the spot..

filter wise, i got the premium uv b+w nano coated filter (made in germany RP$150 bought at $65 like tt after discount) and a normal hoya uv filter

btw the person told me A6000 cannot fit those snap button ar? i mean those pop up shutter button which makes the snap button easier to press, true? cannot put is it?

Yes and No..When you select WIDE AF and AF-C, you will see the little green squares jumping around with PDAF. I got a sort ofwork around to regain some control when in AF-C Wide focus mode.

Activate the Lock On AF.

When in the above mentioned mode setting. If you want some control over what to focus on, press the centre button to call up the Lock On Focus target. Position the target over the subject u want to focus on and press the centre button again. This will lock the focus on the subject and you can now recompose your frame. Once ready just half press and shutter.
I find this a faster way compared to flexible spot method. At same time retain the AF-C wide area function if you suddenly need to shoot a moving subject.
