I did a quick comparison on the shop demo set with my NEX6 :
1. The nex 6 is thinner. Does seem to make alot of difference to me although diff not much in mm.
2. AF super fast! On my NEX6, it took about 0.5s to focus. The a6000 was instant
3. EVF NEX6 definitely better. It has twice the resolution and it shows. I can see lines on the a6000 but not the nex. Overall the diff is subtle if you dont pay attention to it.

Forgot to check if hot shoe cover for the nex and alpha are the same. Anyone can confirm?

Also checked with ms color. Seems they are selling at rrp of $849. Did nit mention free gifts and i did not probe further.

Where you got your casing go down to that sony to change. Sony wisma won't entertain swapping of color casing.

Yup the semi hard screen protector is in at sony Wisma since last Friday...saw at least 10pcs...

try moving your camera around while half press your shutter... or half press your shutter while you are pointing at a moving object.

AF-A is basically AF-auto..... effectively letting your camera decide if if goes into AF-S or AF-C depending on the still/moving subject it detected.

Yup..I bought it...I actually also bought acmaxx version from ebay as well..but yet to arrive....so chance upon the sony version so bought it...cheaper by a few bucks than the acmaxx version...quality pretty good..it's semi hard..so not the flimsy type...quite like it..esp with the sony imprint...looks nice oso..lol.. Used my ipad...doubt can see much difference...with or without SP..looks naked

This is the acmaxx version on the nex 6... Both uses the same size.....I used this before on my A65...good quality...for comparison...but the silver border will cover up brand name....

the extra bulk is mainly from the more blocky design (nex has more chamfered edges)

I came from Nex5N (no EVF), the EVF is quite good as it is. Very responsive even in low light. what I have been reading about A6000 vs NEX EVF boils down to this:
you want pretty and high resolution EVF that don't work as well and laggy while in low light vs a lower resolution EVF that is faster and more responsitive and works better in lower light situation.

As with all newly released cameras, just wait for a few more weeks and you will see the street price drop if you are not in a hurry.

But stock look is a good thing though!
I just ordered the Gariz half body case, already I am expecting to lose a couple of degrees downward tilt, if I add more thickness to the LCD screen, I will lose even more tilt...:dunno:

wow how much is the Gariz half case? I thinking of not using the Sony one. Already lost a few deg of downward tilt due to my Sirui tripod attachment, don't think the half case will add more to it

Singapore price is S$129 (Main dealer price list)
Ebay is USD103.. works out to be the same (cheaper than Gariz.com because of the cheaper shipping)
I can't be bothered to travel to the shops to check out availability, so just ordered from ebay as I am not in hurry anyway.

What's the diff between gariz and the free sony case? I see gariz is v much popular..but $100 odd....think mayb I save this towards the 16-70... Hehe

Ok this is pdaf result from Sony. It's a bit diff from nex 6. For nex 6, the first camera to feature pdaf, there is an option to turn it on and off. Turn it on, both AF-S and AF-C will have pdaf.

For A6000 case, it's diff. You have to select "Wide mode" and set to AF-C, that will be pdaf. A6000 AF-S doesn't support pdaf but both AF-A and AF-C will have.

In short, AF-A in A6000 is like AF-S in nex 6 while both AF-C is the same. To turn pdaf off in A6000, just set to AF-S.


And YES, I collected my hotshot and the A6000 look much better with the hotshoe on.

AF-S in A6000 only support CDAF. That's why A6000 have AF-A.

Just left Sony wisma, sony care centre... They said SG no stock must b abt 2weeks... Told them there's a collection within 3-5 days, still they said SG no stock within 2weeks then have... Anyway... Those who want to get, do so now n order...
Mayb next time we have do do mass order from sony care, all will get, faster.
