A6000

Hi all,

Currently my A6000 has the kit lens and my 35f1.8 which happens to be my main lens when walking ard. Any recommendations what lens is good for the next buy? I typically like to jus shoot random stuff, candid shots, portraits occasionally and maybe landscape in future. I reckon for landscape the kit lens 16-50 might still suffice for now while I learn? But for the portraits and street photography type I sometimes feel the 35f1.8 to be too short at times. It gives me some trouble trying to take group shots indoors at times yet when trying to take some portraits or street from a distance it's then too short... Even the kit at 50mm seems a bit short and the aperture size at that telephoto end is limiting. Might prefer a more flexible one at the moment. Had been looking at the G lens 18-105 f4, FE 24-70 f4 and tessar 16-70 f4 for some time. The range looks good to me (dun think I will need too much zoom beyond mid range cos not into wildlife and sports) but wary over it's image quality as I read reviews and a big point is that it's largest is only at f4. Not sure if a wider version might come out in the near future.

Any advice? TIA!

What lens to buy only u can answer for yourself. Based on your reply to the thread, I think u already know the answer

Ah really ah? I'm actually still undecided. Actually u r right in the sense that I like the range. At least 24-70 is good actually, 16-105 even better of cos. But the f4 is something that bothers me even though it's constant aperture. Based on the experiences of pros here is it likely there might be a larger aperture version in future or it wun overlap the range ah?

18-105 u mean? I am currently using that as my main walkabout lens. Very versatile and more affordable than the 24-70 or 16-70. I really liked the power zoom. I find it more comfortable to compose. Only bummer is the size and weight.

For the aperture, it depends on what u shoot. For landscapes, i will rarely go below F8 anyway. For general shots, F4 already gives me the softness I need.

I will use a prime if I really need to go down to a larger aperture

F4 doesn't give you softness. It gives you bokeh and separation.

Hi, did anyone encounter slow processing time after doing a BULB shot? Thanks.

OIC. It is really quite slow as compare to my DSLR. Thought it might be a problem. OK understand now. Thanks.

You can turn off long exposure NR in the menu to avoid the long processing time. I do NR in lightroom.

Would appreciate feedback on this len.

Where to buy a600 battery grip like dose neewer or ownuser?

Can I check with anyone use A6000 with Tamron 150-600mm or Sigma 150-600mm with Adapter? the AF still fast enough for birding?

Thanks

I'm not an expert but was not satisfied shooting sports (instead of birds) using my A-mount zoom lenses on my A6000 via LA-EA4. Bought a A77ii recently, considered as upgrading my old A55, feel it's a good deal with the promotion. that being said, i've seen brilliant photos from the setup you mentioned, so maybe it's just a matter of skill? :D
