A6000

It's a never ending pursuit of the latest tech. I myself is looking at the A7rII. But it will be a very difficult decision as it means abandoning all my APC-S lenses

Can use on the FF series mah No need abandon. I tried my apsc lenses on them at Sony store to see the difference. Feels pretty much the same

Today i was using my brand new Sony a6000 to film a 30 mins video. but it auto shut off after 28 mins. due to overheating. :( is this camera not suitable for making long video? :o

Yes, if your main purpose is to record a long video and you do that often, then this camera is not suitable ...

What you prolly can do is to let it rest a while, then record again ... but if it gets too hot again, it will auto shut off again ...

Hi there pros!

Not sure if this is the right thread to post but I'm actually looking for a tripod for my A6000. Currently only have kit lens and 35F1.8 but am looking to expand my lens in future, though not sure will go zoom lens or not. Any good recommendations from bros here?

Went to TK foto and was recommended Sirui T1005x + E10 as A6000 is quite small size. Just not sure is this good enough, in terms of stability and capacity load (it's abt 10kg for load)? Am looking at a budget of within $250 if possible and shld ideally not be too heavy till i wun bring out (don't own a car here...)

Advice please thanks in advance!

In that case I would recommend sirui T025 x carbon fibre model Which I am currently using. Strong yet light (Abt 600g if I remb correctly ). Been using it for past 2 year locally n overseas. No problem at all with portability and deployability. Should cost below Yr budget inclusive of the ballhead Which comes with it.

Yup. Am using the aluminum version for both my EOS 650D & a6000.

wooo... thanks for this recommendation! a few questions here...
What is the maximum height of the T025x ah?
And i see that it's of 5 sections. Does it make it harder to deploy or less stable (heard from a friend less sections is better)

I'm using this tripod as well. It's true that the lesser the sections, the more stable. But remember, the A6000 is lighter than a DSLR. So stability is not too much a concern here.

It's stable even when I mounted my Vivitar 200mm manual lens.

The max height is not v high. Fully extended included the centre column and ball head, the camera barely reaches the top of my chest (I'm 178cm) which I'm not satisfied. Sold it for a taller tripod. If you aren't very tall or don't usually find urself shooting behind barricades and railings, should be fine with the T025 or similar.

Theres a new update for the A6000 to Ver2.0 btw

Can download at Sony support

What are the changes?

Copied from Sony website

- Startup time is shortened.
- This update enables shooting movies in 60p/30p/24p* due to the XAVC S format that supports high bit rates.

Upgraded, XAVC S added for video format, but not able to record video in this format due to my 32GB SDHC. it requires 64GB SDXC.

Try workaround by formatting my 32GB SDHC to exFAT to emulate SDXC format, however still not workable...haha. Must spend money on 64GB SDXC.

Isn't this a very minor upgrade for a Ver 2.0?

Well, yes and no..it's a major upgrade because a new feature was added..but only one new feature :) Nothing else was improved. For non videoagraphers, this update is meaningless..and yes, XAVC-s min requirement is a 64gb SDXC card..formating a 32gb one won't work either..the camera will just ask you to reformat it into FAT32 again.

At least something was added that people asked for..ver 2 on the a7 series added nothing..and yet still a major version change..

One more, faster start up time. :-)
