A57 is looking good...

Hi. Bought my A57 recently. To me, the EVF and the lcd are much better that those in the A55, which I also have one.

But now I seems to be having some problem with the A57: When I zoom in my Sony18250 lens, sometimes the F number on the camera display will show "-" instead of a number. I have to zoom out a bit to get the camera to obtain the F number and display it correctly. Tried the kit lens 1855, the same problem will occur too.

Wonder any fellow shooter here encounter similar experience before, and is there any solution for that? Or is it just due to the camera being a faulty one?

My Sony SLT A55 do have this problem previously and I had send in to Sony Service center twice. First time than change the focusing screw, second time they just do some cleaning.

might be dirty lens contacts or the locking mechanism for the lens and mount might be loose.

try cleaning the contacts with a microfiber cloth. both on the lens and the mount

Thanks for the advise. Did try cleaning the contacts of the lens and the camera mount, but the problem still occur, though ad-hoc.

Just came back from short Bali trip, the problem did occur during the trip, but only while zooming in. Not a big issue for taking still photos, but will interrupt and terminate prematurely the video if problem occur while zooming in during taking.

Well, if problem still persist, may have to go to ssc . For a brand new camera to go to service centre, well, i'm "lucky" this time....

btw, which ssc you guy/gals usually go to?

I think it's the lens, not the camera.

Just bring it to wisma. That's the only sec anyway

Dunno, but last time I asked it was 1190 for kit set. Call msc and ask?

Dunno ...But I can clearly see the screw-driven AF thingy on the mount !

...with adaptors, I've got lots of Russian M42 and M39 lense to screw on there for testing !!!

You're wrong !!! ...All lense I've encountered so far still requires a bit of screwing after you insert it !

Some screw 1/4 turn and some 1/2 turn before they'll "click" ...only the M42 and M39 mounts requires screwing all the way in !!!
....and no matter how much you screw them, they'll NEVER "clicks".:what:

This really applies to Geylang too... Or KTV bars...
