A57 is looking good...

Yeah, higher ISO looks much better with the A57. I still wonder how long the OLED view finders will last. Not sure if they are worth a premium.

Price premium? The SLT cameras are actually priced lower than their counterparts from the other camps

As you can read I quoted a reply mentioning the A65. Not sure why you bring counterparts into the discussion.

On the technical side, these OLED display are based on organic small molecules and is very well-understood and well-developed over the last 2 decades. And of cos, short lifespan being the initial problem of OLED, has been improved very much over the years. Now, the lifespan is probably more than sufficient for the expected length of usage (before you upgrade to a newer technology), and is not the main limitation.
The more prominent issue now is probably large area device cos it is hard to do large area processing of small molecules; making large OLED display very costly.

The reason why OLED hasn't completely taken over LCD display over short time is due to the fact that companies have invested a lot into their LCD manufacturing plants, so it doesn't make sense to quickly introduce OLED into the market yet. Though i believe OLED display should have lower production costs. One day, when polymer-based OLED become well-established for commercial production, cost price will go down further. And maybe we can make displays at home using ink-jet printers!!!

OLED share similarities with CRT display - with self-illuminating pixels. This probably makes CRT and OLED display vibrant and contrasty.

then your English is very terrible.

seeing this as an a77 owner i definitely have to disagree. many a times the EVF helped me out in low light situations. right, so there will be alot of noise on the EVF when its near pitch black (like when you forget to take ur lens cap off), but its a feasible alternative to an OVF when there is low ambient light, no? anyone with basic quantum mechanics knowledge would appreciate that there will always be a signal/noise ratio to electronic output.

Plus, I really love it when people scream "In dim light the EVF is noisy!!!! Give me an OVF!!!" Without realizing that you can at least SEE something with the EVF, while you would not see anything with an OVF.

yeah it's ppl mindsets when new technology is introduced to the mainstream there will be early adaptors and there will be those who will stay behind with the old technology.

OLED technology seems new but as fellow CS mentioned I think it matureds enough... We are seeling mobile phones using OLED and Super OLED for years now I have not heard so far much issue. Come to think mobile phone LCD is far more will have high usage rate than your camera view finder if we let say plot it to 12 months lifetime/usage time.

Just look at the spec sheet of A57 you will have an idea where this model pricing falls into.

Err I have to say I am with ageha on this. When I read it I knew immediately he meant the premium that the a65 is asking over the a57.

I guess my English is terrible too ;)

Ageha was saying not sure how long the oled evf will last and hence not sure if the extra money paid for a65 compared to a57 is worth it. A57 sits below the 65 so not sure what u mean that a57 will be expensive.

I've only 2 words for this amusing episode ! ...SELECTIVE READING ! :bsmilie:

I think what ageha meant was the premium of oled evf over lcd evf.

Anyways, a57 looks like an ideal camera. Though I wish it had presets. Guess would need to wait for the 16mp sensor in a77 body

Seems like it will have a lot of the A77 features (battery, grip size, AF points, 12fps) but us Sony's 16MP sensor.

Now this could be very interesting. Too bad there is no GPS though.

I guess this is Sony response to feedback to have the NEX5n sensor to A77 body.....

Of course. It's more than obvious.
