Hello all,
1st time dslr user and bought a55 last month. For an entry lvl noob a lot of intuitive and transparent features for the price vs other brands. not that hard to use. Compared canon and nikon entry lvls and bought a55 because the 10fps sound makes everyone at the sales counter turn their heads.
After 1 mth using my comments
The 10 fps gives good results esp when shooting kids.
Pic quality is more than reasonably sharp and colors crisp vs canon and nikon entry lvl and some mid range dslrs although can see noise at iso 3200. Canon and nikon less noise at same iso. i thought this was a better daytime camera.
light weight makes it easy to handle with kit lens.
Very clear video mode with quick AF and good mic, (for its tiny size).
Got a 50mm f1.8 lens. The difference is stunning for potrait shots. World of difference like sky and earth.
Twilight mode gives good results. initially tot sony better for daytime but this makes it a good nighttime dslr as well.
Battery life is too short
Mounted 18250 lens and immediately feel the weight distribution difference. Feather transform into brick. Ergomonics lost out in that part as middle and 4th fingers feel cramped. 18250 lens takes a bit longer to AF but is expected.
Package $1280 w kit lens 18-55mm, 2*8g sd cards, strap, screen protector, lowepro bag (the smallest one), cleaning kit, tripod (which looks cheapo enough to break using eye power)
Sony 50mm f/1.8 potrait lens $119. (under table transaction)
Sony 18250mm zoom lens $779, bought seperately so now need a bigger bag....any1 selling?
Overall quite satisfied for what i paid for a consumer lvl dslr.
Will post some pics when i am ready to be lined up against the firing squad.
One last thing. dun buy from sony shops and chain stores. more expensive. Go to the mom and pop shops for cheaper prices.
