Ha....ha. Thanks bro. :)

Yup, the A500 is an endurance machine, I was pleasantly shocked when I did like 700+ shots (all LV) plus viewing/showing the photos to wife/buddies, recently at Universal Studios, Sin ...went home and downloaded the lot from Cam to Computer and I still had 20% capacity. (Let me tell you, it gets better from there as the battery gets cycled)

I usually spend about an hr sorting out the photos, I'll do 3 quick pass with the usual viewing softwares.

...first pass, all OOF picts get dumped into the thrashbin.
...second pass, all badly composed, poorly exposed, eyesores, "dun look right" photo joins the OOF in the bin.
...Third pass, decide which are the outstanding photos to keep and show pple and which ones to hide from pple. (Should be easy as I usually have like less than a third of the original photos taken):bsmilie:

Hahaha! Thanks bro for the tips...
Was busy popping my eyes through those photos the past week...

Maybe its a newbie thing, kept many shots even some over and under exposed ones, thinking I may re-visit to study the shots as I progress...

Now I am starting to think otherwise... Maybe should just bump more since it will be unlikely that I will even have time to re-visit so many after a few sessions.. - Shutter count = 3259:think:

Finally decided holding off to a latter date for a second batt cause the batt life of this is simply awesome:bsmilie:

Am truly enjoying my journey with my Alpha A500...
Appreciating the beauty and performance of it day after day...

Hi fellow seniors here with the A550/A500,

saw some of you mentioning Alpha outings...

is it happening any soon?

Btw, was with a friend on a casual shoot earlier on...
- Same old talk... "Think you might really want to consider switching system (to Canon or Nikon) if you are getting serious in photography... Got an Alpha years back and have switched to Canon shortly after...

Sighh..... I was like "why like that... have to be forward thinking ma.., Duh!"
The Sony Alpha Technology has been like improving leaps and bounds over the past few years... And it's not just clever marketing lor...

Anyway, am quite happy to be in the Alpha League... ( With more kindly folks here :) )
Well, the notion from the other camps saying that lens are limited here, IMO, that is still not too bad... Considering that we have less poison here... :bsmilie:

Well, IMO , this is rather a blessing as well, since with fewer lens options (But still quality ones, nonetheless) , we are able to focus more on mastering our lens and extrapolate our creativity and composition...

Though a newbie here, am glad to be here in this small but growing "kind" community...

There are outings almost every week. Just that it's not organized through this forum most of the time.

Most of the seniors have their group of regular shooters who shares the same passion and genre would organize shoots among themselves but they would also invite those who are interested to join them. There was a gathering at Botanic Gardens just yesterday.

I have long gotten myself out of my group of so-called 'friends' whom behave very much like yours. If they are so particular with the brand of camera that I used, I guess I would better be with my group of close 'Alpha' shooters. At least the discrimination is not there and I enjoy my outings with them more.

People whom have used different systems before would know that there are strength and weaknesses in every system and it doesn't matter which camp has more lenses if you are not buying every single one of it. There are exotic lenses which is exclusive to Sony which other camps do not have also. At the end of the day, are their works better than yours?

you can join the Official Sony SG paid outings, the prices are quite okay for Sony members.
Or just go shoot on your own, then see some Guy with a Sony and looks friendly, just chat up with him lor ... he he ...

i initially too think that sony lens is limited.. but after getting my alpha.. i started to see alot of minolta lens that are very good and sharp.. so afterall, lens not a problem at all..

My story slightly different from yours :bsmilie:, after I got my A500, the Canon buddies were sceptical of my choice to say the least, but after several months of shooting together side by side and comparing our results, they now have a healthy respect for the Sony's system.

Irregardless of systems, we still try to go outings once a month and theres canons, nikons, panasonics, olympus as well as sonys in the group !

not trying to start a flame war, but i noticed canon users are too biased towards their system... while other systems user like nikon are ok.. at least from the group of shooter i know..i have friends who uses nikon and thinks that sony is good and climbing fast.. but i also have friends who use canon and always say canon is the best.. haha...

Okay, I think we OT enough aredi, lets not turn this thread into a canon bashing thread ! :nono:

Canon does make some really good cameras !
