I bought the LA-EA1 because I have only 1 E-mount lens, 18-55mm OSS, but many A-mount lenses plus intend to get some manual lenses.
I only use the a-mount DT 35mm F1.8 SAM on the NEX3 occasionally for video. Zoom lenses like the 70-300G is ridiculously unbalanced with the NEX body. You will lose OSS/SSS using the A-mount lens+adapter+Nex body combo some more.
I'll rather just get the upcoming E-mount 55-210mm OSS unless the new adapter price is sub SGD$300 might consider.
De e mount 55-210 lens is cheap but having to keep changing lens may be too troublesome.
That should be expected using interchangeable lens camera, isn't it? Changing lenses should be seen as to allow flexibility and creativity, not seen as something as troublesome.
Better get an E-mount lens for the E-mount body. Even with the adaptor, you still need to change. You need to understand why they make E-mount in the first place. And yes, Sony will/have to re-invent the wheel with certain focal length range of lenses between the E and A mount.
And many Sony a-mount lenses are screw-driven types that will become a MF lens. Might as well get those MF lenses from third-party brands since you have no intention to get A-mount bodies.
I use a few a-mount lenses on the Nex3 becoz I've already own those lenses. But for E-mount newbie like you, I suggest, just stick with those limited range of e-mount lenses Or get MF lenses instead. Don't bother buying anymore a-mount lenses.
accoding to here..

The LA-ea2 is 399 USD.
OT: Its ugly. awww
Its sure does..
But looking at the price (currently) and the look of LA-EA2. I think im give up. Ill just stick to my LA-EA1. And get a A mount body if i want faster AF.
40,000 Yen.. thats about $600 odd.
Yea thats the idea of NEX system.. thats why i never want to get their telezoom.. But will get A mount telezoom instead and a LA-EA1. So at least i can switch around. Eventually.. will own 2 set. The light and the heavy. Now with this.. even better. But too expansive and ugly. With the LA-EA2 attached, definitely it makes the NEX cam an alpha body wannabe and kinda bulky.
Doesn't make the NEX system small and light, which is one of the ideas of the e-mount design in the first place.
I guess anyone buying this will one day sure get an Alpha body and at around $600 a piece, no thanks.

OT: i dont like it if i feel its ugly.
i dont blame them. Why would i. I mean its really a good thing and can see them really put in alot of effort. But just not for me..and since i already had the Version 1 already..ill just stick to it.. maybe get the A77 or new-er or current models if i want my A mounts to work better for me.Yes, its ugly - but i dun blame them lah. How to put so many things inside and still be small? Win some, lose some.
To me, its not so much as to whether this ugly adapter will be very practical for mounting A-mount lenses on a small body.
The important point is Sony is supporting the full functional use of even A-mount screw driven lenses made more than 20 years ago on a new mount. (Yes, its been this long). This builds consumer loyalty.
So many times have camera manufacturers abandoned the old mount after they adopt a new one, and left the previous generation users with a pile of lens that dropped greatly in value without much use in new generation bodies.
Asked any of these old generation users whether they would pay 600 bucks to utilize their old collection of lenses (which they could have paid tens of thousands for) to use them in a new body with fully functional AF and I'm sure they would gladly fork out the money with tears of joy in their eyes.

good point bro.
exactly i believe that's the way the NEX was designed for. especially with Sony "officially" endorsing 3rd party adaptors for manual focus lenses from decades ago.
