A Last Minute Photoshoot of Mio

Bro..if what zoom3 say is correct you have to calm down..:bsmilie:

Maybe not the technique..but that you need a K-5 instead.

Ahren, youi tryin g to poison me ah?

I did some changes by changing the colour courves. Hope to learn more. Taken with the FA77mm

As compared to the original:

If you dont mind, not a pro but I played around with some PP on your pic.
I guess maybe you can sharpen the subject + desaturate the rear alil to make the subject pop?
Think I oversharpened it though.

Thanks. I think most of us here still need to learn a lot about doing PP after we shoot photographs.

Yes, yours look sharper than my version.

Hi Felix
Nice series. Some of the others' comments less that guy are useful too, so I also learnt something through your post.
BTW, who is MIO? Is she a Pentaxian that joined one of the outings?
Thanks :)

No, she is a student from my school

It was last minute and she smsed me yesterday. So I took leave today. Yeah I know but what to do. . . Next time, my friend is going to plan some more shhots so I will call you ok?

Alamak.
I was on leave Thursday & Friday.
Went shooting macro with Charlie instead of Mio.:D

Why artifically sharpen the pics with PP?
Buy a sharper lens lah!:bsmilie:

Which one hah?

Looking at Fengwei's photos, any of his lenses will do! Creampuff's lenses also can :bsmilie:
But cameraman also must be good to bring out the best in the lens  .

Multiply makes your photos look much worse than they actually are, there is no point using your K-7 + FA limited lenses if its going to end up looking like a point and shoot camera. Flickr is so much better, even the free account lets you hold 200 pictures, enough for basic hosting needs.

Some basic lighting can also make a huge difference for portrait shoots. This was done with one flash / one reflector umbrella / one set of radio triggers.

You really can't go wrong with lighting + bokeh for effective subject isolation.

Effective post processing is yet another fairly simple method for improving your images.

can't say i'm very much impressed by these either (especially the first... i'll leave it to you to feel what you feel about that expression):

:bsmilie: i guess people who don't really bother to give constructive comments aren't much good themselves either!

anyways, comments on photos:

1) try to concentrate on the composition first and foremost

2) you seem to be neglecting light - strobing is not really a MUST for model photography, really - as far as i know, these were not taking with flash:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/chewmyheadoff/sets/72157622085437272/detail/

most of these seem to be placing the model in the shade, when there is better light in the bg that i can see.

3) there is general underexposure here.

4) depending on what end result you're attempting to arrive at, cross processing is always an option. :)

cheers.

Ermmm, Hey~ Thanks for your comment~ Hmm, where r ur portraiture posts? lol!

I put a link at the end of the last line of my post, pointing to the same thread you took that pic from, sorry if its not clear!

Anyway I just realised that I basically repeated what has already been said in the other thread. Man, you have been very patient with the comments, some of which are downright unreasonable!

How about a telephoto macro lens like the DFA 100 WR or even the Bokina 90mm? Manual focus lenses could be abit troublesome for portraiture though

100mm on 1.5 = 150mm FOV meaning you stand further away. 43mm = 64.5mm enough for portraiture.

I have the A50mm F1.4 too but MF lenses take too much time and the poor model needs to hold pose for longer

Well, there you have to be thick-skinned as there are a lot of self proclaimed "experts". Even Mio said that being my first photoshoot, I did better than most first timers. And the best part is she helped by checking thru the LCD to see if the shots are good enough. The first few were direct from the FA77mm without PP. I am trying to PP the first 5 to 10 photos taken by the FA77 and I decided to take the rest using the DA*16-50 and the FA43mm instead.

Too bad she is going back to Taiwan to stay with her dad. Hopefully she will come back for a visit sometime in the future. In person, she looks more beautiful than in the photos.

Now I need to PP the photos and post them on FB for her.

Thanks Bro. She has a matured look with her and that makes it harder to shoot but I enjoyed doing the photoshoot with her.

i only have a single subject in that area, and i don't live for you.

happily enough, i don't catch that subject in a cross-eyed moment, unless it is deliberate. i guess you need to be someone of significant skill to catch such a delightful expression during a photoshoot. i mean, i don't think it is easy to do so, i looked through 3 pages of P&P just, and i couldn't find a single cross-eyed moment.

can you teach me how to shoot, o master?

actually, let me share one of my masterpieces of portraiture which can match up to the master who has commented so concisely and bluntly on the thread here, and who has taken the time to share his masterpieces with us.

i think this one is close enough to his skill level, presenting the Cross-Eyed Technique that i am perfecting:

getting there, right.... :embrass:
