A K5 for half the price?

I have used legacy SLR lenses on the best FF DSLR equiped with the best focusing screen and a 1.35x VF magnifier, and yet, manual focusing on the NEX 5N is so much better and accurate that it makes the use of manual focusing lenses on DSLR a joke. I have the NEX 5N for 5 days and nailing focus with it using my Nikkor 50f1.2 wide open is just simply magic.

haha nice sig, next time learn manual focusing from you on the nex5n platform. i am still waiting for my adapter =p

It's good to know that you finally found what you wanted :) I like the way many mirrorless camera implemented to help w manual focusing, but I'm sure many here can also nail focus w a 50/1.2 on a K5/K7, especially using live view to focus.

I often use live view on the K5 to focus, particularly with macro and it is quite effective. The 5N, however, allows you to do this through an EVF, which for some reason, works even better. I was OK with the optical viewfinder when there were focussing aids like prisms, but these are now gone unless you put in another focussing screen.

The NEX 5N was supposed to be a temperary measure while I wait for a new FF. Now, I don't need to. Live view can never help an old man like me with such a bad pair of eyes and I ould never tell whether the image on the LCD is in focus or not. The NEX is different.

Anthony, With my NEX C3, like you I found that I could focus without my reading glasses, which was a small miracle. With the EVF on the 5N, and diopter adjustment, its a bit more satisfying to see it clearly too. :bsmilie:
