For those wondering, this one is a 1956 les paul junior and the one before this set is a Fender WW10 stratocaster if those words mean anything to you LOL

I love how you put all your beautiful guitars on the hard rocky ground! Don't care about scratches haha

Congrats on your new purchase! I think you'll love film as well... If you think M9 feels good, you should handle a good condition MP!! You might just buy it on the spot haha

Wah. Purple fringing galore on the first pic. Is this also shot wit the Summiliux 35mm FLE?

Like I keep telling my wife, the real artists are willing to take risks to go where others haven't never been before :p Besides, my guitars are already scratched up from playing in local bars so a few in the back here and there from an afternoon shoot will probably go unnoticed :)

wow, meaning M9-P?

Wait, sorry for this stupid question but is "purple fringing" a good thing?? note mind you that I treated the color of the pic on Lightroom! Yes it was shot with the 35mm Lux FLE

Welcome here..:)

Imho Shooting a leica or a 5d is still digital..still full frame and it doesnt really make much changes in terms of the picture outcome...i bet u will know more given that you tried both cameras :)

But the shooting experience is different, the feel is different and the kind of attention it gets is different..
Try pointing a 5d w a 70-200mm lens vs a m9 w a 100mm lens at a person..ppl feel less intimidated..which explains why its good for streets. But then again, Danny Santos is again not using a M..

You can always pick a film M or slr to try on film..its definitely different vs shooting digital n u urself can decide if film or digital is better for u..i have friends who swear by digital..:)

Enjoy shooting:)

Welcome to RF brownbagboy. I can feel your high spirit, am happy for you. Hope your new setup can bring you to the height that you have imagined. The best part about leica is the realization process, be it shooting or buying, enjoy it.

PS: Never talk leica price to spouse.. it only complicates matters for your future purchases.

I agree with you to a certain extent. I think there are differences albeit being small differences between the Leica and my 5D. To some people who look at my pics, they probably won;t be able to tell one fro the other without a direct comparison in all pics ... some might even say, is it really worth it. But to me as a shooter, yes it is worth it. Like your points, I agree with you 100% on the shooting experience and feel plus the fact that I get to do things under the radar!!

And to me as the shooter, I see the subtle differences in the toning of the pictures and in their white balance. While these are differences that can be evened out on lightroom, I still like the feel that the Leica gives me as far as color rendering is concerned versus my 5D. The Leica seems cooler, while the 5D seems to be on the warmer end of the spectrum.

Fil vs digital ... now that, like you mentioned should be interesting. But for practicality's sake, I think I'll stick with digital!

Thanks DTOHS!! It really does make me happy. I never leave home without it, and I am never lazy to bring it around with me unlike my 5D :)

My impression was that modern lenses have special coatings to suppress aberrations like color fringing? Personally, I do not mind it -- I get loads of color fringing with my M Hexanon 50mm F2 and it creates a certain glow around the subject.

FARI

I don't mind it too... I think it gives an added dimension of character to the pic :p

I got myself a M9-P last Christmas, setup similar to yours. I never understand the reason to shoot film and told myself why waste time. Now four months later got myself a film body and my M9-P is resting really well in my dry box. The feel is priceless.

i started with a 50D then sold it for a M6 and have been shooting film since. I've also acquired more film cameras but for convenience's sake, I got myself a GXR + M-mount. Even though I love it to bits but I still shoot film 95% of the time. To me, film is irreplaceable.

ok you guys are killing me ... does this really mean I should try one out???

What's a good model to look in to? and what's the good kind of film to use for the different purposes??

ARGH .... you guys are killing me

Film body you can start with M6, M7 to MP. B&W I like Neopan 400, triX 400, Color I love Kodak Ektar100

Now is a gd time to pick a m6...tonnes of m6 selling everywhere..u got a lot of choice to pick from
