Hey guys!
I'm new to Rangefinders! I got my very first one last Friday and have been playing with it every day since Saturday! I absolutely cannot get enough of it... If I could sleep with it under my pillow, I would :bsmilie:
My first impression of this camera (being a total virigin to rangefinders ... it was literally my first time to use one last Saturday... I had to read the manual diligently from cover to cover) was beyond explanation! I shoot on Canon 5Ds for a living using a variety of lenses (50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2, 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8) and yet I have never encountered anything as awe inspiring as my new Leica system! The rendition, the way it captures light and shadows in all different shades and tones, the way it captures light on the human skin, the depth of the image, the creaminess of the colors etc etc are just something I have never seen before. I literally am slowly losing interest in shooting with my Canons which I used to love so dearly! If I could only own one camera system for the rest of my life starting today, it would be my M9 and my 35mm Lux... It's all I really only need... and a fresh pair of underwear hehe
Before I go to to the real point of this thread, I'd like to share with you some of the first EVER photos I took with a rangefinder
This is the first ever photo I took. The shot is not much! It's just the first thing I saw when I stepped out of the store where I bought my SD card for the camera. I just wanted to take a quick shot with my new toy just to see what it would look like! But with this first shot my eyes knew I was dealing with something different. The way the camera captured the different gradients of light was just so organic
This is the second pic I took. Again nothing much.. just a pic of my son reaching out for a toy. But I was once again amazed at how the camera rendered the fur of the toy at 100% crop
Then my first portrait of my wife and son which was in pretty low light
And finally this shot I just took of a bathroom... but it was also the shot that convinced me that The Leica was special in capturing light
I knew I had to do something more with the camera later on in the afternoon!
