9-18mm Limitation

Yea, actually, NR you set to multiple or single like no diff lei, end up still press nothing happens lol

just try leh, multiple shot, NR is greyed out. single shot, can change on/off/auto.

Really? Hmmm...

You mean noise reduction no use?

I mean NR works for long exposure... better dont switch off...

Realize the last line was misleading... I meant to say the noise was quite visible if NR is switched off...

Ah... now it makes sense hahahah, I just leave turn mine off after I'm done, just my habit hahahah, though sometimes I forgot to turn it off, learning that, on or off, no effect in short exposures hahaha

Seriously, someone should really feedback to Oly that those terminology is confusing people... haha...

I went back to garden by the bay again, this time with the correct setting...
NR - Auto NF
NF - Off
Smaller Aperture... and here are the result...

Thanks man, it could be the CPL I used, I know people only use CPL for day scene, but I used it hoping it will reflect the right amount of light to bring out the reflection. Or maybe it could just be the result of long exposure.

Wah, the photos from s2 are sharp, I wonder what setting it use?

I took a few night shot with my uwa lens and also realised it isnt sharp even when i set iso 100 and f8, will try setting recommended here and feedback later

Its not hg or shg so its sharp but not THAT sharp.

Play around with your NR/NF settings because these settings will affect the quality.

Nice one! I'm not sure CPL will help much for reflection at night, it certainly helps for day shots, I should give it a try sometime ;)

Thanks man. Actually I still don't know if it helped even after taking this shot, I should have taken 1 without the CPL to do a comparison. But I think you get what I was trying to do, block off/reflect off excessive lights to cast the correct lights from the opposite banks onto the water.

so what is your conclusion? 9-18mm or 12mm? I'm also thinking to get wide angle lens for my E-P3

my conclusion is: I will stick with 9-18, all those bullshit about small aperture is not sharp on 9-18 is well... bullshit, fair enough it is not super sharp, but sharp enough (just that I got some setting wrong last week plus I wanted to test those bullcrap "advise" setting i got from some review website);I still trust my fellow m4/3ers better. I do landscape and nightscape, so, I dont really need the f2.0... ;)

I'm same conclusion not stellar but good enough:-) certainly I value the wideness (vs 12mm) and mounting filters (vs 7-14), of coz everyone has different requirements for uwa. if there's an uwa with sharpness of 12mm and wider and mount filter I will change

Still got limit, plus forgot polarizer do what to which spectrum of the light, the only thing I think it did was acting like an ND filter, sucks up some light resulting in a need for longer exposure
