Just wondering - anyone tried using nikkor DX lenses on a film body eg. F5 before? Any vignetting etc?

vignetting may occur..especially on the wide focal range..if i'm not wrong, no AF for some G lenses, only MF..

 Nikon is more complicated than Canon man ...

Cos friend is looking at 17-35/17-55 DX.. but may occasionally use on dad's F5. So i'm looking for backward compatibility that doesn't break the bank either.

to be on the safe side..17-35 gets my vote since using on film body too..price wise, its only 300-400 different if i'm not wrong..but it depends on what ur fren like to shoot most of the time..my only dislike for the 17-35 is its short focal range when compared to the 17-55..the 17-55 offers a better focal range, but its sharpness still not satisfactory for me..considering the price of the lens..

Any shoot outings tis coming weekend? :D
Almost a month didn't shoot liao..

theoretically, yes, but not as bad as DSLRs. Might have some mechanical vignetting.

if using on F5, skip DX series lah.

Guess i have to advise accordigly. But there will no be issue with the aperture control right? HBK mentioned that might not have manual aperture control - that's all - but since the F5 is an AF body - no issue right?
