If I buy I most likely choose IBM ThinkPad but the price is not as good as other brand loh.
You might want to check if your school got any special rate for students / teachers ?

That is why I never susgest MacBookPro to you in the first place. That one sure is a good system but is overkill for your requirement for education purpose base on your buget liao.
