how come? .. they make really good notebooks .. ask anyone ... they'll agree.. least problematic in terms of service / reliability / stability ... especially support when overseas :thumbsup:

And i'm not kidding about the support part for overseas... friend had some problem with her hdd whilst in perth .. guess what.. they actually came to collect the laptop from her home. :thumbsup: ...and they delivered back to her residence... this is what i call support.

super ex lo.... thats why i wanna get a lappie in sg.. unless airline can give me extra 20KG luggage weight, i bring my desktop over

Then use the uni's computers loh :dunno: ... cos no laptop is that powerful .. even if have its also beyond your budget.

The things you mentioned you actually need at least - 2GB of RAM ...Xeon line of CPUs to perform "up to expectations" ... eg. Dell Precision desktops...

... get a desktop. ship it over. Quad core releasing end of the year... C2D coming to an end ... and the newer C2D are being released as well.
