The moody chef.
Life must be tough cooking for 1000 monks. No wonder the frown.

I am sure it's much cooler and breezier than our residences back home.
Not bad for a one month summer vacation. Anyone?

Goodness, Cecil. The way you say it.
Ian Wright sounded so familiar that I went to check him out.
And them memories came flooding back to me - he was that Arsenal footballer that i used to watch on TV when I was siao EPL some long time back.
But not having kept tab, I was totally lost.
So I take that is supposed to be good, being compared to Ian Wright, right?
You guys see me too up already liao lah...
Actually, Cecil, our good member Daoyin is the Knowledgeable One. I merely cheong only.
Now got Daoyin the Historian/Philosopher/Sociologist/Archeologist on board, I cannot any how smoke you all.
Got to be very careful with my facts liao! Hahahaha...
But thank you so much Cecil, I have learned much from you. Especially the few points you talked about shooting seagull.

No lah Ian Wright the famous british (not playwrite) Travel Talk Show host lah .

Thanks, Guys :) And yes, I used to be SO opposed to PP-ing photos because I felt that I should rely on my photo-taking skills and not PP-skills. But now that I've determined my photo-taking skills are obviously lacking in some areas, I have picked up PP!! And yes, they do great wonders for my other-wise under/over/blurry shots :bsmilie: But I still have lots to learn from the PP-Masters!

Many of us is like you .. initially .. but the sad true is that no matter how good your skill is in Camera .. the camera is unable to capture what our eye truly see.. so PS is a way to compliment what we saw .. to bring out it actual beauty.

So let's take Post-Processing an integrated part of whole photography .. to present the best for the viewers.

Just my 2 cents

Cheers

We walked to the backdoor of the Monastery and everyone ran out towards the river to shoot.
We stayed behind and observed the monks.

p/s : For sk1968's benefit, if my photo was taken in RAW, he would have done an EVEN BETTER job!

The Road Side Stop after Mahagondayon Monastery

I know you guys are excitedly posting up all your lovely Mahagondayon shots and I am sure there are more to come.
I don't want to be a wet blanket. But let me just post up one record shot of this pahto.
Remember when we all left Mahagondayon Monastery in our coach, and then we were driving along the river,
then suddenly Melvin let out a blood-curdling yell and we all stopped by the road side.
He gave us only 10 minutes to go down and shoot all the interesting farmers, children, ox, ox-cart and everything at the bank of the river?

Well, here is just my record shot of the pahto.

Aaaahhh... like that then those of us who still have Mahagondayon shots can still linger a little linger there while those who have exhausted their Mahagondayon can move on a little bit more to this interesting road side stop to post their pictures here.

To add further to what Lowlight has said and I was also one of those trying so hard to be purist in the film era. If I may add my 10 kyat:

"Post processing is very important in the digital age and anyone denying this and not able to edit effectively and creatively are deluding themselves and not keeping up with the times. Digital photography has given us a new paradigm from capture to process to output. It's no longer about capturing the "perfect" image. That's rare and you waste a whole lot of time aiming for that elusive goal. It's old, dated thinking."

A bit strongly worded but just trying to kick start you. Ha ha. And don't regret later, you will get addicted.
